Nipples!

Hot on heels of the very popular 'Phalic metaphor IN lald', I giVe you the nipples forum!

Now please don't think I'm a sick maniac, but last week I saw something in one of the Bond movies what made me think that whether the censors were sleeping or what?

What I saw was: a nipple! And not Scaramanga's!

Yes, a woman's nipple! I know that Americans are obsessed with "nipples" and making a huge trouble about censorship. I remember how much fuss there was about Elektra's bed scenes, and the censors were looking every inch of the movie to prevent young audiences to be offended by the nipple of Sophie Marceu. Then there was this: completely visible woman nipple! Where's the consistency?

I'm curious, whether anyone else noticed this? I'm not writing down where I saw it. Keep looking! ;)

Ursula Andress in Dr. No? The title sequence in Octopussy?
  • The CatThe Cat Where Blofeld is!Posts: 711MI6 Agent
Oh no. I'd wish it'd be Ursula, but no... And it's not a main titles sequence. It's IN the movie!

Actually, during the shower scene (detox for radiation), you can catch a glimpse of some of Ursula's nipple...but I don't know of any other such occurences of ...nipplage...

Very distinctive avatar, Vladek! As for the nipples, you may get a glimpse of a part of her nipple if you zoom the picture and stop it at the right moment... But this has been much discussed. As far as I know, she wore a flesh coloured bathing suit in the scene, I also have a behind-the-scene pic proving it. Maybe you can see it because she's wet... Anyway keep on looking! Very visible!

Gentlemen! We have a winner! :))

Yes, I was thinking of her. I never noticed it before, but last time I watched the movie, I was astonished!

Of course, it easy for you Frosty! I remember your account from the screenings you attended! ;)
Now that I imagine, it CAN be shocking on big screen. Didn't the re-release guys cut this out?

Now what were the censors thinking! Here's another nice example of censorship inconsistency!

For all the people out there, who own a DAF DVD - Do what you have to do!

P.S. Anoyone remember the nipple from TLD? ;)

In that publicity photo, the modesty corset Ursula Andress wore looked very stiff, almost like a plaster cast. Anyway, when raising her arms to wash her hair in that photo, the stiff material stayed put to allow some nipplage to show...at least behind the scenes!

Cat, are you referring to Domino's swimsuit that had those vertical vents that were covered with sheer material? That was an interesting design that showed the lower part of a breast, but did you accomplish with a DVD zoom-freeze what I've been trying to catch for years; a flash when the swimsuit rode up just enough? If this is indeed the same scene you are refering to, it's always been a wonder why I there hasn't been any discussion on Domino's strange and tantalizing swimsuit.

Not really, I was referring to Ursula's bathing suit in Dr. No. But this Domino thing sounds interesting. Could you tell me where exactly this scene is? I have a huge array of softwares just to create the most out of DVDs. Maybe I can get a better view. ;)

    ABC t.v., in the U.S.,
censored a sequence recently - with a CGI effect - of the Drax Girl, who walks behind the waterfall, in "MR", because they thought they'd spotted something!,
and they were right, there is something - HER Double-O's are accidently on show!. :))

Is that something? I still can't understand why they altered Plenty O' Tooles' clothes in DAF. There was NOTHING to see there. Why did they do it? Just the puritan traditions, I guess...

Oh my! Cassandra is a very close second! Revelaing indeed!

TNN/Spike tv sure noticed Marie's nipple(s). In the "uncut" DAF, the camera zooms in on Marie head, thus saving the viewers the offense of seeing boobidoos.

We admire your dedication to the subject of Bond!. -{ :))

It's just a pity that you won't be able to post the vidcap here - as it'll be MGM copyrighted material!. :))

You do have an e-mail adress, don't you? ;)

If you have any of the movies on DVD, the title sequences are in great quality. Maurice Binder had the sillouette girls completely exposed in the chest area, and you can see nipplage in all of the following title sequences:

    -Thunderball
    -Diamonds are Forever
    -The Spy Who Loved Me
    -For Your Eyes Only
    -Octopussy
    -The Living Daylights
    -Licence to Kill

I'm sure there are others, but these are just more obvious.

By the way, in From Russia With Love, for those who don't know, there's a shot of nudity of 'Tania' sneaking into Bond's bed. However, this wasn't Daniela Bianchi, just a model.

God Bless the Internet. A whole thread about Nipples. Does it get any better than this?

Check out the phalic metaphor section. You'll love it!

Oh, I'm still waiting for the answer from superado. The Domino thing keeps me awake!

Another DVD for me to buy. And I always liked
    that scene, actually.

    Ahh, the days before women became studio heads...-{

Cat, that swimsuit sequence by Domino begins when Bond first meets her undewater, when he helps remove her feet lodged in coral underwater. Then together they motorboat back to land and then to the poolside where they talk about conch chowder and have the "My, you have sharp eyes..." dialogue.

This discussion is truly beneath me. Um, would someone please zoom in on that? Thanks awfully.

We're just having a lighthearted discussion here :) - and surely ANYTHING is better than ANOTHER "Rank The 20 Films" Topic!. ;)[/quote]

thank you, this topic keeps people awake because it isnt so boring and dragged on. People want to rank things too much, it is nice to have a chuckle or two doing this.

I've only ever seen The Man with the Golden Gun on an abc special (but I taped it so I can re-watch it whenever), so I'm sure they censored it. This is probably why I didn't notice any nipplage during the title sequence.

Octopussy, however, has a very blatent shot of a woman's breasts that lasts for quite a few seconds, I'd have to say that's the most obvious.

And by the way, in the pre-title sequence of The Spy Who Loved Me, one of the sailors walks from inside the bunk room into the mess-hall. As he steps into the mess-hall, you can see a glimpse of magazine clippings his fellow sailors have hung up, and there are a few very 'candid' pictures of women.

Just to keep milking this topic (and I've pointed to this example before), but another instance where nipples pop up is in the title sequence of You Only Live Twice. During the moment where a group of Japanese women are seen in silhouette, a nipple is very visible in profile. This bit so bothered the US censors that the poor woman's entire breast was digitally removed!

You`re on the net, ... and people just talking about nipples is as good as it gets?? You must be doing something wrong.

Maybe my sarcasim wasn't evident in my post. But I was being sarcastic. It gets way better than nipple posts on a message board just look at my bookmarks on my computer.

Sorry, JazzX, I neglected to say in my previous post that it was the censors at the ABC television network in the U.S. that performed the digital mastectomy. The U.S. DVD is mercifully intact. I feel like a real boob here. . .

Look, I have checked out all of these so-called nipple-findings in the films (from a purely scientific standpoint I assure you, I certainly didn't want to see anything for any personal reasons :)) and I have to say that the only real, full nipple shot is in Octopussy outside of the the mansion on Octopussy's island, when the girl gets out the pool and gets a towel. Now, the thing about it is that it is shot from far away, so unless you zoom in (which I have done for purely non-sexual reasons) you can't see to clearly. Honestly, the editing team from Bond has made sure that you really never get a full nipple shot, and I don't care what anyone says, that is so.

Can anyone tell me what the american censors have against nipples, but not against chucky?

Hey Dove! Have you checked Marie in Diamonds Are Forever? "It" can be seen without slowing down or zooming... and as FROSTY said, it is quite shocking watching it on the big-screen. "It" is completely visible! I will never ever understand how this survived the censors!

    Correct me if I'm wrong,
but in the opening title sequence
    to Thunderball, one nude woman,
facing the camera, slides down through
    the water and we can see her breasts;
although they are dark and in shadow,
you can make out the nipples. They just
    aren't detailed enough to justify censorship;
I've seen it on TV when I was younger.

    Details, anyone?
We don't want this thread to sag...:))

I've seen her too.And this oversized puritanical fixation against women's breasts is udderly astonishing. When most of us came into this world, the first things we saw and touched were a couple of bare female breasts.A nipple never hurt anyone.
