Re: Skyfall does a reported $77.7 million dollar weekend opening.

Thanks for all these numbers, Moore Than...your efforts are much appreciated.

I guess the success in France could at least in part be attributed to Berenice Marlohe. Which is ironic because she has made it clear in a number of interviews that having been snubbed for years by the French because she doesn't have the 'right look', she finally made it big thanks to a foreign film and is now big at home!

Agreed, but compare her to Eva Green, Sophie Marceau and others, and definitely does not have the looks

To give you an idea just how successful Skyfall has been around the world, I have compiled a list (courtesy of Box Office Mojo) of the current top ten countries in terms of overall gross in US dollars, plus Skyfall's position in their box office chart for 2012.

United States - $273,507,818 - Number 5
United Kingdom - $158,366,475 - Number 1
Germany - $77,115,048 - Number 2
France - $56,794,648 - Number 1
Australia - $39,362,862 - Number 3
Russia/ CIS - $25,146,012 - Number 7
Netherlands - $20,387,869 - Number 1
Japan - $18,942,725 - Number 35
Italy - $16,783,632 - Number 8
Sweden - $16,254,114 - Number 1

Skyfall is number 1 in four countries, in the UK, Netherlands and Sweden by a big margin. And could yet be number 1 in Germany.

Well, the box office figures from Skyfall plus the previous three films suggests they are not Bond crazy, but there is a consistent and loyal following.

Die Another Day $18,441,255
Casino Royale $18,982,804
Quantum of Solace $21,685,734
Skyfall (currently) $18,942,725

Skyfall has dropped from the #1 position in The Netherlands but has done very well - and still is.

I assume you meant it has dropped from the #1 position in the weekly chart. Skyfall is #1 in the Netherlands box office chart of 2012.

Yeah, sorry about that - I meant the weekly chart.

Re: Skyfall does a reported $77.7 million dollar weekend opening.

What's the overall gross ? Has it reached a billion yet?

I love a ride in the country, don't you?

No problem. Just wanted to clarify that.

As of last weekend, Skyfall's worldwide gross stood at $951 million, there should be an update tomorrow. Skyfall is set to pass the $1 billion mark, most likely after its release in China next month.

Re: Skyfall does a reported $77.7 million dollar weekend opening.

Skyfall grossed an estimated $4,700,000 this weekend at the US box office. The theatre count has dropped by 559 but it is still being screened in 2,365 over the Christmas week, that will hopefully give it a little extra boost. Skyfall's total US gross now stands at $279,972,000, the total worldwide at $974,272,000.

Looks like it will break $1 billion even before it opens in China.

Re: Skyfall does a reported $77.7 million dollar weekend opening.

Forgive me if this has been raised earlier, but figures aren't my strength (quite the opposite). Adjusted for inflation, is SF the biggest earning 007 movie ever or is that still MR, TB, or whatever? Or is it still too early to tell?

90

Re: Skyfall does a reported $77.7 million dollar weekend opening.

I think Thunderball is number 1, Skyfall 2

91

Re: Skyfall does a reported $77.7 million dollar weekend opening.

Thanks! (Though the DVD etc returns will be fairly big, I'd think, and may change that)

To give you an idea as to Skyfall's standing regards box office adjusted for inflation. I cannot vouch for accuracy, but the list at the link below is inflation adjusted to 2011. It currently (updated 22nd December) shows that Skyfall needs to gross another $60 million to become the biggest earning 007 film ever. There is also a graph indicating the ups and downs of the Bond films popularity at the box office over the fifty years.

Skyfall's phenomenal success continues. In Denmark, it is not only the number 1 film at the box office in 2012 (and by some distance), but has also now become the most viewed Bond film of all. Skyfall has been seen by 893,844 Danes since its release, surpassing the record set by Casino Royale of 890,371.
