I am a big Roy Budd fan. I own all his soundtracks and would have loved him to have done a Bond film. His Get Carter soundtrack is a classic.......

I can only imagine what Roy Budd would have done with MWTGG or Live and Let Die.
This is where we leave you Mr. Bond. (Pilot, Apollo Airlines)

Yes, Roy Budd's brilliant. Britain's answer to Lalo Schifrin, I reckon. I agree totally he'd have done a great Bond soundtrack. He knew how to fuse jazz with a sinister classical orchestration in the same way as John Barry. Both sorely missed talents.

For anyone who doesn't know his work - the classic GET CARTER aside - check out THE BLACK WINDMILL, THE INTERNECINE PROJECT & FEAR IS THE KEY. The epic nine minute Car Chase track from FEAR IS THE KEY is outstanding.

My mum had some vague association with Roy Budd. He was raised in Mitcham, south London, or close to.
She shared the same piano teacher, some old dragon called Mrs Clarke, who was still teaching piano in her 80s when my brother tried to learn the keys.
The Get Carter theme has materialized on an advert on British TV recently (I can't remember which, I don't watch much TV).
I think he'd have done a brilliant job on a 007 soundtrack, except the movies of the seventies (when he was in his pomp) were not very suitable to his very minimalist style.
