in James Bond Literature
I bought 'The Union Trilogy' and 'Choice of Weapons' other day, I was't sure which should I start with? Is it in releases order?

I enjoyed Fleming's, but these Blofeld trilogy uninterested.
'Colonel Sun' was well written, but not my taste.
I enjoyed 'Devil May Care'(I wish Faulks write sequels).
I has chance to read 'The Authorised Biography of 007', it was fun read.
I haven't read 'Carte Blanche'/'Solo' or any of John Gardner(Should I? If so, which one?)
I don't want to read Young Bond or Moneypenny Diaries.
James Bond Omnibus comic strips' fun and enjoyable, I am waiting for 6th.
Dalton is the Bond! Lazenby is the other fella.

    It' easy for me, I'll read anything with Bond in it. :))
    The Gardner Books are pretty good but do fall off in
    Quality in the last few. If you get the chance, read them
    in order. I'm doing that at the moment with the Fleming
    Novels, and it does make a huge difference in seeing his
    Character development. -{
    I was never a big fan if the Benson books, the first couple
    are OK, but for me they soon drop quickly in quality.

    Have you read all of the Fleming Novels? The Gardner Books start off strong, but decline in Quality after No Deals Mr Bond.

    And it's not bad at all, as TP said.
    The villain, Lacertus Alligator, has steel teeth, likes to paint his women purple, and plans to send the Houses of Parliament floating away... not that that's a bad idea, come to think of it! :))

    Well for me, from best to least, is 'Solo', 'Carte Blanche', 'Devil May Care'.

    'Solo' to me had a good writing style and developed Bond's character in an interesting way. I also liked the use of the locations and minor characters. Though I thought the conclusion was a little disappointing with the direction it went.

    'Carte Blanche' short chapters keeps the story fast paced. In the process of being modernized, Bond loses a lot his style. He truly comes off as a blunt instrument, but the wrong way. I found the villain's plot was great, at first (Don't want to spoil it). Though the action is good, there is no real suspense. I never felt Bond was actually in danger, which dampens the otherwise grounded story.

    'Devil May Care' feels like it was trying too hard to be Fleming, or at least what the writer thought was fleming. The story feels inspired by the Moonraker, From Russia with Love, and Goldfinger novels (and some of the movies). The characters lean on the cliche side in my opinion. I also felt the chapters started to drag after a while.

    It's always interesting to read others opinions on the novels, and
    Yet funny as we all can come to different conclusions. As I thought
    Solo was very poor. And the others only slightly better. :))

    I want to see the next Author write a Series of Novels, ala Gardner and Benson.
