And I'm just sitting here, with my Festina F16455 (or something like that, who cares), watching these watches being also watched by owners of expensive watches. But hey! I'm not Justin Bieber! So I got that going for me, which is nice.

.. just came across with this:

    Rolex-Submariner-Reference-6536.jpg

    blockier case - check!
    no lug holes - Check!
surrounds around the lume plots - check!

Seems that we are seeing the archetype for the Supercase Submariners that we are currently have.

But I want a date, so my vote goes to the SubC Date (non ugly-green btw) :D

    6536 has been introduced in the 50s (1954) ;)

Never understood why JB had a Submariner rather than a GMT Master. He travels around the World more than he does scuba diving and the 1675 is waterproof up to 100 meters.... Telling simultaneously the time from different timezones and a having a date function would suit the 007 needs better I guess...

Indeed.........and on that note, here's my mid-60s 'gilt dial' 1675.

    Thanks guys! :)
My 'grail' 1675 would be an early 60s PCG, but just haven't come across one at the right price, or condition in the UK. I also wish mine had the correct Rivet Oyster bracelet, rather than the '68 onwards folded link Oyster, but like most vintage Rollies, finding a totally 'original spec' one is tricky.
Do post pics of your PCG when you get it back.

My beloved '63 PCG unfortunately hasn't got his gilt dial anymore I wish she had it, but the original owner had it serviced and now has a beautiful but later Mk IV Matte replaced by RSC in the late 70s or early 80s. I do have its original 7206 though, and I bought a '69 6251H folded bracelet which I prefer for the comfort and allows me to save the original oyster one.

The GMT as you can see is my favorite Rolex together with the 1655 of course! :))

Explorer......Whilst I would love a gilt, or matte dial 1016, I still think the 114270 is one of the nicest looking and well proportioned sports watches that Rolex ever made.

    That Explorer is beautiful!!!
I had both the Explorer and the Ceramic Planet Ocean in my hands trying to choose between them and it was a VERY tough choice!! Took me 3 separate visits and finally decided on the Planet Ocean.
Now, after seeing those pictures, I still want an Explorer!! 8-) :s

    Thanks Uncle :)

The current Explorer (214270) is nice, but a 3mm bigger than mine. Whilst the Planet Ocean is an alternative to the Sub, I see the Aqua Terra as more an alternative to the Explorer.
