im still saddened at the death of Robin Williams ,now we hear he has hung himself , we have as a family grown up with this gifted person ,from his early work as Mork (nannoo nannoo ) to Aladin, Popeye ,Good morning Veitnam, to The hugely funny Mrs Doubtfire , starring our very own Brozzers, my children have grown up with him , he is like a family friend ,I don't know any one who dosent like him, I once walked across the width of Malta ,just to visit the popeye film set
he brought realism to the famous cartoon sailor ,before that id never would have given popeye a second look ,
ive browsed through various face books today ,and its touched everybody ,

Uno had some weird story lines : tax free boss , weapons smuggler , Elvis-expert , scientologist , feminist , healer. Then there's the time he thought he was gay or when he was hypnotized into believing he's age 7 , lol)

Very sorry to hear about Menahem Golan, as a big action film fan I really enjoyed a lot of the films that Cannon made or helped distribute in the 1980's even if they are a little cheesy and made on the cheap. Dare I say it but Cannon under Golan and his cousin Yoram Globus helped to keep Chuck Norris in the public eye in the 1980's (A majority of Norris movies during this time period were made and disturbed by them with a small number of exceptions). Additionally prior to buying Cannon, Golan worked with his cousin as part of a company called Noah films. Under this banner they produced a number of films, including Sallah(1964) which took home a Golden Globe in 1965, and was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language film

Lord Attenborough was indeed a legend. Sad to hear of his passing but glad he at least lived to a ripe old age. I liked his performance in the chilling 10 Rillington Place where he played the real-life serial killer John Christie and the film was actually filmed in the infamous address where the murders were carried out which added immensely to the studied and chilling realism of the film. -{

Yes, John Hurt was of course brilliant too, and I noticed the guy from EastEnders too - didn't actually see all of the film in 2009 when it was on the TV as I didn't know it was on. As a Law student I had heard of John Christie from a law lecturer as the short Criminology part of the degree so I was glad to see the film. It also starred Robert Hardy (of All Creatures Great and Small) as the defence barrister for John Hurt's character Timothy Evans, a man hanged for crimes he did not commit and a miscarriage of justice which hastened the abolition of the death penalty in 1965 by the Labour Government of PM Harold Wilson.
Interestingly, Lord Attenborough's son Michael was married to Bond actress Jane Seymour for a time.

Along with James Garner, Attenborough was one of the last of The Great Escape stars, a quick look on imdb shows a few others still living, such as Uncle star David McCullum.
Yet it is with a start that I realise that (I think) some of the survivors of the actual Great Escape on which the film was based are still living, or were a few years ago...
