    And in very much the shape I would expect the literary Bond to be in, I might add. -{

Agreed, Bond wasn't a Mr Britain contestant. :D

Oh yes ... Indeed he did :x

Actually, by time Tim was Bond he'd actually filled out a bit ! In his twenties he was very thin.

I also prefer Craig post CR. Whilst he looked good it wasn't very Bondian.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
IMHO, Craig looked far better in QOS and Skyfall, stubble and all. :D

Can't post the actual picture as it's Bond but if the go quite a way down the article to 'pleated trousers' ...

Best shape: Early Connery, Craig, Lazenby
Worst shape: Late Brosnan, Late Connery

Dalton was always in between. He never wanted to be a sex symbol, so I don't think he was ever shown shirtless.

Yes, in LTK. See Lady Rose's post 66 above.

Craig's body is his weapon to use against the argument that he is too blond, too short, not handsome enough to be Bond. If he didn't have his build, I don't think he'd have a chance to pull off the character...(even though he's a very dedicated actor). Craig's body is his signature to the franchise.
However, when I think of Bond, I don't necessarily think of someone who is extremely fit (like Craig). Bond is someone who likes the good life, and he mingles with the ultra rich in posh settings. Granted, he has to be a great marksman and know hand to hand combat, but I think that the character needs to stay away from turning into a spandex superhero........Hence, as long as the character has broad shoulders and a flat stomach, it's all good to me.....

Craig's facial features are mostly average but he has soul-gazing eyes.

I see Roger Moore doesn't even qualify to be included in your list :))

About Timothy Dalton, in this movie http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2656344064/tt0118691?ref_=ttmd_md_pv, made in 1997, he appears shirtless and quite bulked up. He was in better shape than in TLD/LTK, and he was like 49. He could have perfectly played Bond shape-wise until the end of the 90s.

I didn't know about that. What was it? 45?

He was 42, then 44 for LTK. By 1994 he was 50, and no longer willing to play Bond. :#

Moore looked like crap in Octopussy but it was a great movie so I didn't mind.

In AVTAK, Moore looked good for his age. Better than Connery in DAF, who he was 18 years older than.

The other movies, Moore looked fine. I don't really see (post Simon Templar) Moore as attractive though, as much as I liked his acting. When I saw MWGG, I was saying "damn! Christopher Lee should have been Bond here!!".

He was asked for OHMSS back in the late sixties as well. But back then he turned it down because he redeemed himself to young. And then so later he thought he was to old? ( I thought he walked away from it due to the long wait rather than his age)
I got to tell you, if it was me that got asked to play the part on a young age - I think I wouldn't even have the heart to turn it down and I probably would be like Brosnan, trying to hold on to it for as long as possible!

    Dalton was too young.

A 25-year old with an Oxford degree, an extensive background in martial arts, and in one of the highest positions in one of the most prestigious institutions of defense just isn't believable.

:)) not according to Our Founder.

Sorry, I meant to say Cambridge and extensive krav-maga (or whatever military training is involved to become a secret agent).

But you get my point. Bond is a man with both a lot of experience and mileage - a 25 year old can't fill those shoes.
