Excellent interview barracuda. I just received my Sinclair/Slazenger pullover and I am delighted with it. It's a beautiful item and one that I will wear with pride - and comfort - for a long time. It may not be a perfect replica of the original, but it's a perfect and eminently wearable tribute.

You could find a much better quality jumper than that one on sale from somewhere else at the same price (I did at Bloomingdales last spring), but you wouldn't get the (incorrect) Slazenger logo.

For those who have bought the Slazenger Sweater, how is the fit? As David Mason mentions in Matt's blog, "If you’re undecided on whether to get a certain size, I recommend sizing down if you like your jumpers to fit closely." How does that work out in practice? Have those who have bought them found sizing down works for them?

    Like MB I'm mucho confusedo.

From the size guide, I'd chose a Medium, 38-40. Why would I consider dropping down to a Small, 35-37, which appears clearly too small???? :s

Or are we like Craigy in SKYFALL; buying suits clearly a size too small just to make us look bigger? :))

That's what I said, not David Mason. I'm a 38 and David Mason recommended size medium for me, but I went for a small based on the measurements he gave me. With a medium I would end up with a fit like Connery's. The small has the same measurements as other medium-size jumpers I have. The small has a 40" chest, which gives it a close fit, but not too tight, to someone with a 38" chest. The medium has a 42" chest, which would be quite loose on me. The size guide on the AS website doesn't give actual garment measurements. Does this make sense?

What size do you get your Bobby's in, Matt?

I normally wear a medium, since I'm a 38. But on this one I found that a small fit the same way (with slightly wider shoulders) than some of my other mediums. I've updated my article to be more clear about my sizing experience.

I got my Slazenger sweater yesterday, and it is great. It's obvious that a lot of thought and love went into doing this project right. From the magnetic box to the black descriptive card, to the sweater itself. It may not be 100% screen accurate, but I actually like it better this way. It's better for the times. As far as fit goes, I would recommend taking your normal size. I wear an XL and this fits me perfectly. For reference, I also wear an XL in the Smedley Bobby and that fits me very well. Hope that helps!

I'm a 38/40. 38R is my perfect fit for a jacket, although occasionally I buy a 40S if my usual size is sold out. Sweaters etc are always 38/40 and my shirts are always 15" collar. I ordered the Medium - 38/40 - and it fits perfectly. I probably could have got away with a Small, but I suspect it would have been very tight and I doubt I could have worn a shirt beneath it, only a t-shirt.

What is your actual chest size? My chest measures 38 inches, and the small is snug like Daniel Craig's black jumper in Skyfall but not too tight. The medium's shoulders at 19" would be too wide for me.

I would say I'm a 39 and consequently 90% of 38s fit me perfectly, it's just the odd item that's too tight.

Mrs Bawnd had me out looking for Christmas ideas, and went over to Montagu Square to see the guys in Anthony Sinclair. Tried on the Slazenger Sweater and had a look at the knitted ties. As David Mason was busy, I got chatting to his son, who mentioned that his dad was in a meeting to try to produce the grey polo shirt that Sean Connery wears underneath the jumper. Could be interesting...
