Bond films as rated by IMDB reviews:-

Having checked the latest review scores on Bond films- below is the current order of best to worst as rated by fans on IMDB site. i was surprised by the order of some films in the list - discuss?

1 - Casino Royale: - 8.0
2 - Goldfinger - 7.9
3 - From Russia with love - 7.5
4 - Dr No - 7.3
5 - The Spy who loved me - 7.1
- Goldeneye - 7.1
6 - Thunderball - 7.0
7 - You only live twice - 6.9
8 - OHM Secret Service - 6.8
- Live and let die - 6.8
- For your Eyes Only - 6.8
-Quantum of Solace - 6.8
9 - The Living Daylights - 6.7
- Diamonds Are Forever - 6.7
10 - Man with Golden Gun - 6.6
11 - Octopussy - 6.5
- Licence to kill - 6.5
12 - Tomorrow never dies - 6.4
13 - World is not Enough - 6.3
14 - Moonraker - 6.1
A View to a Kill - 6.1
15 - Die Another Day - 6.0

For a general observation:- pleased to see Casino Royale at the top, really is a great film. Obviously many of the positions are tied with other films. surprised that Goldeneye is rated (joint 6th) best Bond film. would be further down on my list. Thunderball also would be lower. QOS also is well below average (does not deserve joint 8th). Die Another Day is spot-on!! - other than that i'd have Living Daylights and Licence to kill quite higher. How on earth Diamonds Are Forever ties with Living daylights i've no idea!

Nothing in recent decades between 7 and 8. Just CR which stands out a lot, personally I don't rate it but there you go.

TLD and DAF? Well DAF is very witty, that's what a lot of folk are buying into, and more vivid visually imo. And Connery better than Dalton generally. I know TLD tries harder and is more polished.

Most of Brozzer's in bottom five. Hmmm.

the tie between TLD and DAF they've gotten pretty well. But the should be on the very bottom of that list :D

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

GF & TSWLM are too high. YOLT,OHMSS,DAF,TLD,LTK,MWTGG are all way too high and should all be fighting for 13-21.

The Man With the Golden Gun ranked higher than License to Kill, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough? Absurd!!! But a pleasant surprise to see YOLT ranked so high. Although I don't agree that it was better than OHMSS, I really enjoy that one!

I love TLD too...actually probably in my top three...

    2. Irony.
    3. Lists.

TLD should be ranked higher than ANY Roger Moore Bond! There, I said it!

yes agree on Man with Golden Gun. Ridiculous that it's rated above Licence to Kill, Octopussy and some of the others! Moonraker and AVTAK are better films too i'd say.

The real surprise to me is how low OHMSS is ranked, I would rank it among the top tree. I would also place LTK higher and TB probably a bit lover. Otherwise I think it`s a pretty good list.

I don't think any list will match, Our Own Favourites list. These lists are interesting to read but I'll stick with my own Choices. :D

Rather surprised to see DR NO so high. I watched it recently and found it tremendously hard going. It hasn't aged as well as some of the later movies. Otherwise I'd ahve OHMSS much higher. The rest of the list is pretty similar to mine. I could dabble a bit and fuss over it but, MR and TND accepted, I wouldn't disagree with much. These polls are fairly unsatisfactory anyway; they never please anyone.

The variance between them is less than I expected. They all fall in the 6-8 range. Most of them in the 6.5-7.5 range.

I figured highly acclaimed films like Goldfinger would be on a higher pedestal, but I guess every movie has detractors to weigh it down. It's also surprising that many of the most hated Bond films actually have decent ratings.

Pretty good list. Surprised to see TLD so low, and GE actually in the top 5, but then again this list is not by Bond fans.

The best news is to see CR top of the list. By the way, Skyfall would be third now with 7.8, as this list is from 2011, so I'd say the franchise is in its second youth. Great.

I do not rate Moonraker as low as that but do understand that a lot of people are put off mainly because of Bond being in space, Jaws falling in love then turning to the good side, and the silly humour.

Definitely much higher that GE. That GE , inexplicably, ranks at sixth position just behind FRWL and DN is beyond me.

It's general public stuff. To me, a severe literary Bond fan, FRWL should always be #1, with DN and Dalton's films in tow.

For me too. FRWL at the very top. No doubt. GF and DN in the vicinity. TLD should be at least in the top 10 (if not five). And OHMSS is way down and it should be in the top 5 IMHO, probably because as you say, it's general public. They'd be asking "where's James Bond? who's this guy"
