Is there an unspoken rule against James Bond being with older women?

Usually you need young blood to garner new attention, and as Lewis Gilbert commented, if you have an older actress who hasn't made it, you soon find out why when you screen-test.

Anyway, if you had an 'older' actress for much of Moore's stint, you'd wind up with The Golden Girls. :#

I just watched "Funny Face" with my 12-year old daughter and she asked, why did Audrey Hepburn's character like Fred Astaire's character, who "was so old" :)) I had to explain to her about male fantasy (without using that word, lol) and a lot of the movie-going public felt that way...and I added, just look at the Bond movies!

Zena Marshall was born in 1926, four years older than Connery.

It might be sexist, but I don't think it's racist. That is if you don't see young women as a different race :))

Especially the young ones: obsessed with social media and fashion, no interest in WWII, apparently no awarenss of the laws of gravity, speaks a language that seems alien, listens to strange music ...... they might be :))

I really like the idea of Monica Belluci in Bond. She is stunning.

I think the problem with some of the younger actresses is that they can seem very immature. Dr Chrismas Jones was a ridiculous character whereas Dr Holly Goodhead was great and appropriate.

Eva Green was 26 I think in Casino Royal but seemed very mature and a great fit for the film. Rosamund Pike was also great.

No one is suggesting Dame Maggie Smith as a Bond girl but there is a place for older more sophisticated woman. Sharon Stone could have got away with it.

I always thought Kristen Scott Thomas would have made a very interesting Bond Girl. Enigmatic and classy.
