    It was a big flop in 1964 & considered to be the film that effectively ended the cycle of Roman epics. It's now seen as an underrated gem. Well worth checking out, if only for the fact Ridley Scott effectively remade it as GLADIATOR - Christopher Plummer as Commodus in EMPIRE, Joaquin Phoenix as the same character in GLADIATOR.

    Really was! It's so bad it's good, kind of like DAD or (at least from what I hear) XXX. :)) Judged too harshly. Of course it's bad, but one hell of a fun ride!
