SD Studios Golden Gun

Morning everyone. I know a lot of us are Golden Gun fans and on that basis I thought I would let everyone know about the SD studios one thats arrived on flea bay in the states under item number 151599584266. As always it would be good for the more knowledgable GG members to make comment on whether its first or second generation, whether case is correct, whether any bits are missing etc and what its likely to fetch. Looks expensive to me but what do I know ?? Kind regards to all in advance of your responses. Its not mine by the way, just thought I better clarify that. Mark Rothwell

Thanks Pete. I have looked at the 1st and 2nd generation golden guns and its the boxes that are baffling me. From what I can see there are 3 different boxes. One isnt a box its just a wooden placque and the other 2 are boxes but with subtle differences. The box on ebay seems to have its little gold placque from the right hand side missing ? is this correct or am i barking up the wrong tree ? From what I have gleened from google the box with no placque should have a blue / black lining with no gold placque but the box featured on the ebay advert is the deeper box with red lining and gold placque attached on bottom right of the box. Any thoughts ?

yes - correct first gen box.
felt and lining appear correct as well.
Yes missing the gold edition number brass engraved plaque.
    Also two concerns:
Not shown are the lid of the box and the other side of the gun.
The box has a glass insert lid with "007" frosted in. I had been told of one being broken and replaced - can be done. Just make sure you still got that 007 logo on the glass and that it look correct. Second the gun can be good on one side as that was how it was stored, but the other side can tarnished due to the long term storage that way in an unfriendly condition - high humidity, etc.
So please ask to see that - also ask to see it unassembled.

Its good advice Texas and much appreciated. I think the GG is such a collectible that doing things like refabricating gold placques and having entire guns re gold plated etc is just something that people will start doing soon. Sadly there are a good few FE guns that have the gold plating fading already as I think its a bit on the thin side personally. Good shout about the frosted glass though as that would be a devil to replace I would of thought.

Just curious, I have the SD Studios golden gun in Mint condition and it is number 4 made, in the wood box engraved lid plaque on bottom right which says 0004 of 7500 at bottom, etc., any idea best place to sell? Should I just go with Christies? I would think being one of the original made it would fetch a good number

Christie's would not take it - you can try call them - keep in mind you still got to send to them and they take no less than 15% seller fee
    Ebay would be best really
