    I love the Pelagos!!!
I agree that it will look great on a Nato or at the rubber strap.

IMO the better alternative to the SMP 300

I have a feeling the Pelagos will appreciate greatly over the next few years, especially in price.

Don't expect too much - it still has a pretty standard ETA base movement.
But the Pelagos will certainly keep it's value {[]

    My "Bond" NATO arrived yesterday:

    image.jpg

It's a Phoenix original, not the >10x more expensive Omega copy. If it's said that DC likes a lighter watch, I can understand why he'd like this strap - it's reduced the heft of my SM300 by around 50%

    Looks really good!

Has anyone compared the Omega branded NATO strap with the more affordable alternatives? How do they rate against one another?

The Omega version is thicker, feels far more solid and better constructed.

Agreed - the Omega is definitely thicker and has bound edges too, with a rope-weave design. The keepers are also stitched as opposed to heat welded, so are not in keeping with the original MoD specs which called for heat welded joints. All the hardware is made from more finely tooled stainless steel, with the Omega wording/logo laser-etched into them.

However, as tough and over-engineered as the Omega NATO is, the thing that'll always give way first are the spring bars going into the case. If you want the look (and also have the original item from which Omega have copied their version), then get a Phoenix strap. I used these guys http://www.monkeyswag.com/straps/nato-mod-phoenix/mod-watch-strap-james-bond.html and would recommend their service - less than 24 hours from order to delivery and a good price too.

Thanks guys the new SM300 just does not resonate with me like the PO did. The older SM300 well the NATO was born for it and as one of the watches designed to meet the MOD watch spec in the 60's its a perfect match and fit.

I have a more modern version but this is just taking it to another level meet my beater see below :D

I call it my homeage to the old and new!

    Cheers :007)

Sub is short for Submariner you idiot. The clue is the use of the same letters it starts with S, U and B... SUBmariner 8-) Talk about being thick.

The Planet Ocean looks great on a NATO. I really don't know why they had to issue a new Vintage 300. The Planet Ocean is the perfect watch IMHO :007)

    Went to pickup my Omega NATO for the same watch as this, and they only had the 21mm. Will have to wait another week for the 20mm. Looks great though. -{
