Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've seen the NATO strap in both Rome and Austria so far. Could it be that he'll wear it throughout the entire film? The funeral in Rome and the action scenes in Austria are very different situations, so maybe this will be his one and only watch strap this time around.
My guess is that he'll wear the AT at the beginning of the movie in the PTS and start wearing the 300 after he gets back to the UK before he leaves for Rome. I think it's been confirmed that he'll wear the AT as well, so that would likely need to be in the beginning of the movie.
Yesterday I visited Gassan Diamonds in Amsterdam, official Omega dealer. Talked to their specialist on Omega and asked him about the coming Omega Spectre Special. Hè informed me that they were not yet officially informed by Omega.
I asked whether I could be registered on some sort pre buyers list. Not possible.
It is expected that mid April there will be some more data available.
And since that happens after the credits (the pre title sequence is in Mexico as you all know) changing the watch after the credits is not the case - what if he receives actually one from Q this time? But since gadgets are absent in Craig's films the conversation could look like this:
Q: Bond, here is your new watch, the Omega Seamaster 300 Vintage
Bond: All right, great, what can it do?
Q: It measures time you idiot, how did you make it into MI6?
Well, the "radio" was a gadget. So was the biometric PPK, technically. The DB5 had lots of "gadgets". The medical gear in the CR was sort of a gadget as well.
I'd say having a watch that did something just a little extra wouldn't go too far against Q's statement. I think that "gadget" in this sense mean things that seem improbable and there just for the sake of looking cool. Like Xray specs, for instance. Though, something like an "exploding pen" would probably come in handy in some instances, and not be all that far fetched.
Well but Q said that they're not going into "exploding pens" anymore... Things like these look just silly in today's world, I don't say it will not work - with a good explanation everything can look believable, but the Brosnan era gadgets were, well... Silly. Especially the Omega with a hook.
For those of us in the UK watching the Comic Relief sketch "Behind the Bond", the inclusion of the SM300 Master Co-axial is now confirmed.
In the sketch, it's revealed that Craig has a dark secret (I'll not spoil it for anyone who's yet to see it), and the segments he is in commenting about his, ahem, distinction, are obviously done while on set at Spectre.
DC is wearing a midnight blue tux with black satin shawl collar, black bow tie and vertically pleated dress shirt with a white pocket square, but importantly, he's wearing one of the new SM300 Master Co-axials fitted to a 'Bond' NATO strap. You can even make out the time the piece was filmed, 13.30, which would equate pretty well with the lunch period on a 'normal' filming day.

I have yet to see a good smartphone or digital watch that I like. Omega made the best one with that NASA watch. But the new version doesn't look as good. Even though people will go crazy when Apple makes one, I doubt I will. But I don't have an iPhone, iPod, or anything either.
I hope Bond never goes back to the Roger Moore digital watch just to have it.

The NATO strap looks even better when worn. I have one on an old divers watch (sadly not a PO but my birthday is coming up so...)
The NATO strap just gives the watch a little bit of an air of adventure. I can't explain it, try it yourself and see what I mean. You just feel elevated above all other watch owners.

I have a very similar NATO on my Steinhart OVM (see pic below) - here the keepers are very close together and my experience is (I have around 10 different couloured NATO straps) that it is always better to have them closer together (if the strap falls short of the 2nd keeper it's left hanging. Would just like to know before getting the Omega version for my Planet Ocean.

The NATO strap just gives the watch a little bit of an air of adventure. I can't explain it, try it yourself and see what I mean. You just feel elevated above all other watch owners.
How's that paperbill ? I think it looks pretty good. I have a number of NATO straps, Monkey Swag, RAF etc this one is very robust.
