Scum (1979). A brilliant film life in a borstal and the harsh treatment by the staff at the time. Things have changed now but at the time it was terrible. Staff being racially abusive to inmates etc. The film isn't without humour however. Tbe bit where Archer (Mick Ford) goes to see the governor and asks for his bed to be turned to face Mecca. The governor's reaction was hilarious. "MECAAA ARCHER?!" )

For all of those who want to see Bond going back to gadgets, girls and silly plots, this is the movie to see...however, don't take your kids...the language is shocking! )

watching the re make of Total Recall ,good film so far ,but one tinsy winsy thing bugs me.This film is set so far in the future
they have flying cars, humanoid robotic police men , computer technology we can only dream of, transportation to Australia that takes 15 mins,yet they are still relying on gas propelled projectiles (ie bullets ) to kill people with ,and their bullet proof body armour is crap too. Now you would think by now ,they would have made a bullet proof vest that works ,and got rid of guns. 8-)

It took me about 10 times to get thru this film for some reason!
I watched Total Recall last night too. It was actually better than I thought it would be. Colin Farrell had obviously spent a fair about of time in the gym so respect for that at least! The film wasn't as good as the original of course but plenty of action and I think a lot of the futuristic ideas were really quite feasible. having not read the premise for this remake I did keep wondering "So when are they going to go to Mars!" ?:) )
A few annoying things as well..
The obligatory hover car chase didn't do much for me.
The threat posed by Cohaagen just didn't come across as sinister, menacing or destructive enough.
The contrast between the (for arguments sake) upper level and lower level of the UFB was flawed. Considering how futuristic the upper level was, when they came crashing down in their car to street level, people were still driving around in Fiat 500's! (Product placement?)
Nothing against either of the leading ladies, (Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel) but with the dark sets, wardrobe make up etc. I thought it odd that they cast two ladies who looked so similar on screen! In the later action sequences for a second or two, you had to figure out is she the goody or baddie!? (Or perhaps I'm just getting old!) They were both pleasing on the eye at least
I did like the book he was reading at the start though..
Although of all the Bond books he had to choose from, he made a strange choice! I can only assume he'd already read all the good ones. (Not that TSWLM is terrible, but its my least favourite Bond novel)

I too have read the books...enjoyed them, although the writing was shocking, however I've NO intention of seeing the movie in the theatre...
Nope...I'll be quite happy watching it at home...wine a plenty and all that
Thats probably the best way to see it to be honest.
Drink wine first, watch film whilst drinking more wine, then when film is finished have wine to round off the experience and laugh
