My son visited London, Portsmouth and Bovington over the weekend, taking a short trip from France where he's studying for the semester. The UK immigration officer asked him where he was going and he replied to the Bovington Tank Museum, and the immigration officer said, "I wasn't aware that we had a tank museum," which btw happens to hold the largest tank collection in the world, lol.

I saw on the news the Kingsman launched in China this weekend with $25 mill opening. Looks like the film has been a big success overall and still racking up the dough
Just saw Kingsman! Marvellous. Simply marvellous. And so many Bond homages.... It brought back the fun of watching Bond movies for the first time! Is that good. And, is it me, or it channels Roger Moore and the Moore era more than any other Bond? It felt like that and it felt great.
One last thought. It's the closest we'll get to a Tarantino made Bond (until Tarantino directs one, that is). Samuel L. Jackson is not there by chance.

I was extremely disappointed in 'Kingsman', which I've just seen. There were some good scenes, but the excessive 'cartoon' violence soon got old and repetitive. Exploding heads with fireworks coming out of them? Really? The only Bond film this had any similarity to was 'Casino Royale', the 1967 version. I've enjoyed some of Matthew Vaughn's movies, 'X-Men: First Class' and 'Layer Cake', but 'Kingsman' doesn't make me feel he's at all suitable to helm a future Bond movie. Looking forward to a more realistic and exciting movie in 'SPECTRE', role on November!

I felt like I was 14 years old again for two hours. Totally MR territory, but I've always liked MR because I had so much fun . I enjoyed the digs at the Craig movies. "Spy films are too serious....bu the early Bond films...". That was so funny.
It works because it doesn't takes it self too seriously, it practically knows it's on MR territory. I think it's also because it's adted from a graphic novel - the action isn't going to be as realistic as other films.

I think that's why I was so disappointed, I expected it to be fun like an early 60's Bond film, but it was more like the over the top excesses of a late 70's/ early 80's Bond film, but without the 007 style. Anyway, I know now not to bother watching any more movies based on graphic novels, just not my cup of tea. I prefer Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry for my 'cartoon' fun.
Kingsman looks like its going to fill the aching void left by the reboot of Bond into the boring, tortured, un-sexy, gadget-less creature that he's now become. Kingsman's Colin firth even comments on Bond at one point: ‘The Bond movies are only as good as the villain’ which is partly why QoS and SF were such a awful movies - their villains s**ked. Kingsman appears to have all the wit, action, sensuality and pure joy that I used to love in the Bond franchise before they started "deconstructing" him in GE.

Kingsman is closest to the Roger Moore era of the Bond franchise and it has the one thing that I miss in the recent Bond films - its ENTERTAINING!

Had said she didn't like the look of Kingsman. Oddly enough she sat through the
Whole film ) I could hear deep sighing whenever old Colin appeared.
