Theme songs being in the actual film?

What do you think of it? I'm not talking about the inclusion of it in the score, I'm talking about things like the singer singing Live And Let Die in LALD. I think it's a nice touch, but come across with the question of how this song comes in to their universe.

]Actually the orchestral arrangement hasn't had any since the living daylights. A good score used to be part of the film

I think with the LALD song, they didn't want Paul McCartney to sing it, so got the other version to cover themselves.
By recording Miss BJ Arnau singing it too. ;)

Orchestral arrangements of the themes were used in all of David Arnold's scores with the themes he wrote himself. You might also count Surrender within the TND score, and No Good About Goodbye (a rejected theme) in the QoS score. I really wished they used that one!

For songs within the action of the film and not the score, I like it when the janitor in OHMSS whistles Goldfinger and the snake charmer in OP plays the Bond theme.

I think it is SO important!

It's been lacking recently. For me it really adds to the theme, continuity and identity of a Bond film. I yearn for it to flow through a Bond film in different guises as it once did in the classic John Barry scores.

In Casino Royale, just after Bond receives his assignment from M in the Bahamas, there is a cut to an aerial view of the train on which he meets Vesper. As soon as we see the train, there is a very nice piece of orchestral music playing, which I think is called "I'm the Money" on the soundtrack. I've always thought, and I may be wrong, that this is to the same tune as "You Know My Name", specifically the line 'Arm yourself because no-one else here will save you'.

    That's all over the film.
