The "Rite of Passage" Theory

My theory states that for a Bond actor to establish himself and his place in the history, the three following things must happen:
1) Bond introduces himself with a memorable "Bond, James Bond"
2) Bond gambles at an elegant casino and wins
3) Bond escapes from villains via a ski chase

With Casino Royale for Craig, it was like a rite of passage. Craig was gambling in a sexy way and Craig said "Bond James Bond" in the most badass way possible. He's THE Bond of the generation. And with Spectre, he will meet the third requirement.

    I agree with the first line and think the second sort of goes hand-in-hand with that.

    Don't agree with the third as much. Yes, it's a very classically Bond thing to do but I'd be more lenient with it. Connery doesn't have a ski chase, it took Roger 3 films, Dalton had a snow scene but not a ski chase, it took Brosnan until his third film and Craig might not even have a ski chase in Spectre, there's been no proof.

    I still class all of those actors as Bond in their pre-ski chase films so to speak and will still class Craig as Bond if there's no ski chase in Spectre.

    I'm not saying you need to have a ski chase in order to be Bond. Moreso that ski chases usually have been a trope of Bond and when you do them successfully, you establish yourself amongst the greats. It's like every Bond in his lifetime must ski. And Craig skiing has been like promoted all over the place by Eon.

    As for Connery, idk, maybe they planned to do one in Diamonds Are Forever but... (okay, I'll shut up).

    My theory states that for a Bond actor to establish himself and his place in the history, the three following things must happen:

    Bond film #1, Bond film #2 and Bond film #3 :)

    (and one of them had better be good!)

    I think OHMSS really hit on something with the ski-chase.

    They were so well done and well received that they did seem to give each Bond one after that.

    Roger got three -{

    I will be interesting to see if DC gets one in SPECTRE, no evidence yet is there?
