Myself and Number24 have had a few chats about politics and voting over the
years. Perhaps this story on politics in N.Ireland might give an insight in to why
I have such a low opinion of politicians.
    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/northern-irish-minister-gay-parents-far-more-likely-to-abuse-their-children-10201825.html
N.Ireland minister says gay parents are FAR more likely to abuse their children ! 8-)
Not really 21st century thinking and not backed up by any facts or statistics. My view is
Religion has no place in politics. Governments should work for all its citizens, no matter
What their beliefs, religion ( or lack of it) colour or sexuality.
I couldn't even think of a mainstream politician like Cameron, Miliband or Clegg making
    Such an outrageous statement. :#

Yes, politicians can be stupid. Very stupid. So are some dictators. Two of the upsides of demcracy are you can say politicians are stupid and vote them out of office.

I for one would gladly take a benign dictatorship, over a stupid politician any day. ;)

Why? There are plenty of stupid dictators too, and they are harder to replace ?:)
There is also the small matter of survival. Dictators tend to murder many of their own citizens in peacetime, sometimes in the millions or tens of millions. This never happens in democracies.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
you're really down on Dictators. :D

Democracy is the worst system, other than every other system ever tried.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
Real Democracy doesn't need politicians ! just an app on your phone, any decisions needed, the population simply
votes, the will of the peopele gets carried out. :)) Sometimes my brilliance amazes even me ! :))

Not your worst idea (by far :D ) but I see one major problem with it: Have you any inkling of how may things politicians vote on in a single day? It's bad enough that politicians don't do any real work. With your idea none of us would get any work done :))
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
loads of people vote on talent shows like the X Factor, so do a political version, where politicians put
forward their policies ( with a tap dance, bit of singing, or a cute dog) then the viewers can vote for
the most entertaining foreign polocy etc . I think that's another winner. ;)

Some cynics would say you just described modern democracy :v
    I say your suggestion is flawless. Just remember how George W.Bush's foreign policy was not only wise and popular, but also offered very entertaining TV -{

Good old George, a man of the people. ;) and Tony Blair is now a peace envoy !
Who says politicians don't have a sense of humour. :))

I just bought a book for my sister called "The man - humans' best friend". It's written by a female commedian and I hope she'll find it useful and she will get to understand us better. it says on the back of the book: "This is a book for you who allready have man or are planning to get one. The book will teach you how to understand the man and how it thinks. You will find useful adivice and tips about nutrition, activities and how you can make your man a happy man."

    Extracts from the book:

"Now that we don't need the men to work in the mines, sit in board meetings or get heart attacks on the golf coarse, since we have taken over many of these tasks ourselves. Instead we value men as nice company in the home."

    On meeting men in clubs:
"If the man is used to humans, it will probably try to appeal to your intelect rather han your looks. Don't scold it if the man choses to talk about Rosa Luxembourg rather than commenting your figure! It doesn't mean it's doeasn't notice or care about all the work you've done for your body - it has just experienced being hit by a human before."

"Spend time getting to know the man and his personality. Play with it and let itget to know your voice. After a while you can touch it.
If you let it know you dislike what it says, it will probably feel hurt and withdraw. Remember: All it wants is to follow you home!"

"Men leave objects like socks and underwear around where he lives. This is its way of saying; "I live here - I feel safe here!
The object contain tiny scent particles telling other men they are trespasing on his area."

"Leaving the toilet seat up is one of man's strongest instincts. Don't waste time trying to wean him off from doing this."

"If you let the man have a remote control it will see it as a sign of trust, and it will form a strong bond to you."

"After a while you can send your to food fetch potatoes or fondue, and it will probably return the sam day."

My sister is allready married and he is fairly domesticated, but I still hope she'll find the book informative.
