I saw "Guardians of the Galaxy" last night. Highly recomended! It's funny, origional, disrespectfull and inventive - more som than all six Star Wars movies combined. Together with Bladerunner, Serenity and Pitch Black it's my favourite sci-fi movie. :007)

Guardians of the Galaxy is my third favourite marvel movie, after Spider Man 1 & 2. It looked good, it was funny....like a modern day Star Wars (the originals, of course).

    The Black Windmill ( 1974)
Michael Caine is always worth watching, and this is a pretty good early 70s thriller.
An intelligence agent has to get his son back from some kidnappers, while at the same
    Time he's been framed.
Also stars Donald Pleasence , with art direction by Peter Murton and an uncredited
Appearance early on from John Rhys Davies, and Catherine Schell.
In one amusing scene when asked who was working for the Russians ?
Donald Pleasence says " Sean Connery !, ........ Sorry Sean Kelly " :D

Get Carter, is a classic {[] I always find it amusing how American crime films
Always make their lives look fairly glamorous, where as British crime films nearly
Always show it to be a bit grubby/sleazy. :))

I agree, Homegrown films ( only my opinion) like layer Cake, show a more
Realistic version of the violence and sleaze in the criminal world. -{ same
With the likes of " Harry Brown", I think that's why they're so hard hitting for
    The viewer.

I have to agree with this. American crime films for the most part tend to make it look like a life of crime is a fun, glamorous romp. :v

I'm not knocking American films here but ..... :))
One problem the US seems to have is so many attractive actors/actresses :D so
In many gangster movies everyone looks terrific. At lease here in the UK, we don't
    Have that problem. :))

An American journalist once wrote about the Scandi crime TV series' that : "The actors don't look like actors" as something that made our crime series' stand apart. It may be more of an European Thing?

Just seen Fury Road once again, I think it may be the best film of the year for me (well, until SPECTRE comes out!). Truly a magnificent piece of action. It truly is a 'lovely' film!

We watched Bronson last night ,a story about Britains most violent criminal ,starring Tom Hardy .Very good film , but cant help thinking ,that if the boot was on the other foot ,ie it was depicting how the Nazis locked up prisoners ,there would be an outcry
After all this is Blighty old chap.Recommend watching it .especially our lady agents ;)

    Quatermass And The Pit

I'd seen it before, but this was the first time on Blu-Ray. One of the best sci-fi/horror movies ever, and all the better with the improved picture. Geek that I am, I've also got the original BBC version and can never decide which is better- both have their strengths.
A few Bond links include Cec Linder (Felix in GF) in the BBC version, and Julian Glover in the Hammer movie.

I watched the original(and the best)version of "The flight of the phoenix. Why they had to make an updated version is beyond me.
The cast reads like a whos who in the film world ,Stewart,Attenborough,Banham,Kennedy,Borgnine,a big name cast. James Stewart, and Richard Attenborough, are a classic duo .The scene where the two finally realise that the aircraft, designed by Hardy Kruger,is basically a big toy. Kruger in his brilliant portrayal of the highly efficient German designer,is out standing , in explaining his view on why this thing will fly.The facial expressions between Stewart and Attenborough,is just sheer genius. Not many words are exchanged between these two ageing air jockeys, but Attenboroughs eyes say a thousand words.I felt a twinge of sadness at this performance,as most of todays up and coming actors have only one goal in life ,to be famous. And sadly we shall never see the like of Sir Richard again. If you have never seen the original ,and only the pile of crap ,that Wahlberg made ,rent it.watch it asap.

Watched Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, first time I've seen it, prefer it over the first but not as good as the second or fourth. Then watched True Lies, good action film, but is the bridge near the end of the film the same one used in LTK?

Saw Fury Road today. Very entertaining movie with some striking visuals (especially a violent sand storm about 1/3 of the way thru). However, the movie was utterly devoid of the humor and quirkiness of the prior films and Max's sidekicks and adversaries were a pretty bland bunch with no one approaching the personality of the Gyro Captain, the menace of Wez or the sheer absurdity of Ironbar.
