'Britain's Hardest Grafter' will pit people on no or low incomes off against each other in the hope of winning a year of the living wage 8-) ah! Modern Britain. :#

There was a time, you could pay money to go in and watch the " lunatics" in
The asylums ( language of the time), it would seem today, people on benefits
are the modern replacement. Viewers can tune in to watch the poor, try and fight
It out, not for a fortune or life changing amount of money, but a years work on
    The living wage. :#
I don't watch these type of programmes, as I find them very exploitive of the people
    On screen.
I wouldn't be surprised if the next show had rich people dropping a wallet of money in
a run down estate and watch the people, fight over it. 8-) or maybe have an assault
Course and the winner, would earn the right to sell a kidney.

The Last flying Vulcan bomber is to be grounded, due to expense. :#

I always thought it was a beautiful looking plane, and curiously the only
Time the Vulcan was involved in a conflict was the Falklands.

She's also running out of air hours TP.

The other main reason is engine life. With no brand new units available to replace the current original units, once they have reached their end of life there's nothing else to put in their place.

Technically speaking it is possible to build brand new engines but the cost of this would be phenomenal, millions and millions of your earth pounds.

Even if new engines were available, there's several other areas of the aircraft needing attention, the airframe and all the various systems etc. I read one article where the VTTS trust said the plane has flown over 10% longer than any other vulcan, its like driving your car passed its service point with the dash lit up like blackpool.

I'm afraid flying XH558 is very much like spinning plates, and as time goes on it'll get more and more difficult to keep it in the air.

Let her bow out with dignity. I will miss seeing it fly, there really is nothing like it. The sound alone is incredible.

Like Concorde ,another aircraft ahead of its time ,in both design and engineering , but like everything British ,the pricks in charge
just seem to let them go ,well you cant privatise the Vulcan .

I'm sharing a historical anecdote, just because I like it. In the early 80's Finland's prime minister Mauno Koivisto visited Ronald Reagan in the White House. Reagan an his aide's pushed Koivisto hard for his "soft" and "liberal" line against the Soviet Union. Koivisto satquietly an listened patiently, but after aa while one of Koivisto's aidee's finally snapped: "My prime miister fought the Soviet Union for years and killed many Soviet soldiers. How many Red Army soldiers has your president killed, not counting in the movies?" Koivisto served in Infantry Detatchment Tørni during WWII. IDT was likely the best LRRP unit operating in winter/artic areas during the war. Reagan and his people swirched the subject after this excange ..... :D
