The SABS can happily go back to proper money, ...
..... Pounds, shillings and pence. ;)
Although I think the old Greek problem is great happening in the holiday
Season, the euro to the pound rate, is going to be fantastic. :))

I've been doing Google searches for sabSEXit. I get nothing about the SABS debt problems, but I have got some very very interesting other websites! :)

He's not the only person I've heard saying Wiffy, I could just never be fussed to found out whether they were joking or serious.

I see we're heading to seven days a seeking working. :#
I'm not religious but do think to have one day a week for
Families to have a day off, Together. Isn't a bad idea.
Modern Britain, we work longer hours ( already) than any other
European country, with the largest amount of Zero hour contracts
( low wages) and now seven days a week working !
Doesn't exactly sound like a modern powerhouse economy, more like
    Europe's cheap " sweat shop" economy, :#

Any old crap you need made cheap, Britain's the place.
Other countries specialise in high quality, expensive items,
But we'll take on any big bulk crap, make it quick, sell it cheap. :#

And as usual, shop workers are at the brunt of it all. I already work a ten hour shift on a Sunday (starting at 6 am) as it is. But no doubt it will be rammed through regardless. :#

I try and avoid working Sunday's. Even though the Store doesn't open until 9 o'clock, so I suppose that's a Plus.

I believe Sunday shopping is little more than a cash grab by big companies (small companies would likely stay closed if the big ones didn't open). Yes, I know some people have trouble getting out to do their business Mon-Fri because of commuting, overtime, shifts etc, but with the internet it has never been easier to get stuff done. I used to work a 6-day week of 10-12 hour days before Sunday shopping and the internet existed, and still I somehow managed to get stuff done (don't really know how now, to be honest). If Sunday shopping ended, people would re-adjust and more importantly all those people in retail would be guaranteed at least one day a week with their families. Given the stressful times, I think Sunday closing would actually help people by allowing more time for relaxation, recreation, friends and families.

To be honest, I need to work as many Hours as I can at the Moment. The OH is now on Maternity Leave. She's getting her maternity Pay, but still.

...and then there's that! Yup, I see your point, which was one of the reasons I was once working 6-day week of 10-12 hour days :D
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,224Chief of Staff
I used to do that- couldn't any more!- for the same reason.

I have to ask - is this "summer" thing really a hoax? I've had a few warm days with sun an blue skies, but mostly it's been cloudy and rainy. Magazines and TV claim it's summer, but we all know what can be done with stock footage and CGI these days. I trust you guys, is it all a massive conspiracy? ?:)

Yes, we share the same weather! The bad weather queues up from the south west, passes Scotland and drops off some of the rain. Then it continues towards the Norwegian coastline where the rest of the rain falls because of the mountains. I don't need the weather forecast. You can just tell me the weather and I'll know tomorrow's weather :D

As it's a traditional Scottish Double bass, is it not a sporran ? ;)

It's a piece of highly technical equipment called a towel. Surprisingly useful when travelling the galaxy, but in this case it's for deadening resonance.

And, when you get tired of playing the double-bassoon, you can always throw it in.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 21,766MI6 Agent
Barbel, what is the instrument you're playing? I Googled both Scottish double bass and sporran, but the pictures didn't look like what you're playing in the picture :))
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 36,224Chief of Staff
It's a Palatino electric double bass, much more fun than a bass guitar and more practical than an acoustic double bass.
