The most impressive and standout part of DC's physique are his forearms, they're massive. When I saw him live on broadway in 2013 I really noticed it during a scene when he had his sleeves rolled up.

I find it very surprising that we can figure out very secret details about filming and Daniels clothing, but there is no word on his real diet or fitness program. Does anyone have any information on this especially for Spectre? I know Men's fitness has an article on what he did for Casino Royale but I've heard it's not very accurate.
Its no secret how to get in shape. Like Craig or anyone else with a great physique. You dont need any special Craig routine. The old adage of 80% diet and 20% exercise is a silly percentage that gets thrown around, but pretty accurate. There's tons of info online on bodybuilding sites and forums. No matter what your goal, the answers are all out there for the taking.

Want to lose weight? Consume less calories than you burn. Want to gain weight? Consume more calories than you burn. Lots of protein to preserve or add muscle.

It might take a year or two but with good nutrition and a decent weightlifting routine, anyone can get there. Find what works for you, and change your lifestyle accordingly.

I agree you don't need any special Craig routine - his will be tailored for his body type/genetics and won't work for everyone.

IMO, DC has very good genetics to start with. Even in Layer Cake, although he looks quite lean at a casual glance, he still has noticeable muscle on his frame. I'm sure he trained hard and ate well to achieve his Bond physique but genetics are also a big factor.

Whilst I agree the average man should be capable of achieving a Bond physique, for some of us with poor genetics it is just not possible. I am lean and skinny with very little in terms of natural muscle size (ectomorph body type). I have always found gaining any noticeable muscle impossible.

With just over 100 days left until SPECTRE's release, I was thinking of trying to follow a fitness routine with goals leading up to the film's release.

Then, have some specific workouts planned for certain milestone dates within that 100 day countdown. Something like on 007 days until release, run a 5k.

Sounds like fun, count me in

You guys are giving genetics way too much credit although it is a factor. You can't even say 'Daniel Craig can gain muscle because he has good genetics'. You can not read his DNA, you'd have to take him to a science lab for that, lol. If you consider height a factor of genetics, Daniel Craig is 5'10 , most bonds were around 6'2. Yet Daniel is the most ripped jacked one of them yet by a longshot. Sean only weighed 165lbs. , Daniel weighed 180, i know at least in Casino. Hell, age isn't even as big a factor as people say, the dude is 47 now and he's still jacked.

Now Dave Batista - that's someone who genetics plays a bigger factor. Arnold Schwartzenegger, The Rock - genetics played a big part. Daniel Craig, genetics not so much. A Legend from the ground up

Does anyone else think Craig looks leaner this time out? Definitely still on top shape, but maybe not as over-muscled.

Saw the full trailer tonight in IMAX with MI: Rogue Nation (decent enough film) and DC's face appeared a bit thinner, but that could be the haircut. A bit more telling were a few shots of him in the snow gear...but then again that outfit is black, tight fitting almost like Underarmour, and may give the illusion of less bulk. Truth be told, Craig's thinner but still muscular build (ala Layer Cake) is probably more befitting of a veteran MI6 "00" than the bulked-up, fresh out of SBS, newly minted "00" look of CR. To me, DC as Bond always struck me facially and physically as Steve McQueen with a little Charles Bronson thrown in.

Agreed. I think he looks good.

You must tell me in what parallel universe you read Sean was only 11st 11lbs (165 lbs)????? LOL You actually believe he looks that slight???????

In most publications of the early 60s, Connery in interview states he is 13st (182lbs)

Perhaps you should check your facts?

Theres no way Sean was only 165 pounds, that's how much Pierce Weighed in GE and look how stick thin he was, Seans a big guy he was definitely 180+ pounds.

No way Connery weighed 165 lbs in DN. He was very trim and lean in DR, but at 6'2", with a moderate to large frame, and a good amount of muscle mass he had to be 180 plus. Brosnan in GE I could believe was 165 lbs. PB, while only an inch shorter than Connery has a much smaller frame. They did manage to bulk PB up for TND but that's what Connery looked like normally. Could you imagine what Connery would have looked like if he had trained like DC?

With Craig's training, Connery would've been a monster. Lazenby, although on a somewhat smaller frame than Connery, would also have been able to put on a ton of muscle. He was also the youngest actor to play the part. He already looked considerably more fit than the aging Connnery when Lazenby took on the role.

Are we thinking Craig is about 5'10" or so and about 180lbs?

People who say they've been close to Daniel Craig in person say he's more like 5'9" (and some say 5'8"). With all the muscle, he's probably around 170-180 lbs. My height is 5'9" and I weigh 160 lbs without much muscle, but I can actually fit into a size 38 suit, whilst the size 38 suits in SF were too small on Daniel Craig. Daniel Craig fit comfortably into a size 40 suit in QoS, and that was my size when I weighed over 170 lbs.

I would think more than likely, a contemporary Trainer in today's era would put together a program for someone with Connery's size and body type that would concentrate on giving him a leaner waist with 6 pack abs along with bigger, well defined upper arms.

    With regards to the ongoing obssession with Craig's actual height some other posters seem to have....the only thing that counts for me is how he appears on screen as James Bond; and to me he looks to be around 5'11" or so. That he looked to be 4'11" with giant hairy feet standing next to someone's Aunt Matilda at the local Stop N Shop is of very little consequence IMO. :D -{

That makes sense....sorry, should have read your post more closely to understand the context. Clothing sizes are so inconsistant these days. I'm 5'4" (when I was younger I was 5'5"; at 58 I've definately shrunk a bit :# ) and weigh 136 lbs and just bought a new suit which was a 38 short (I have big shoulders, a big back and narrow waist). Depending on the cut of the suits I tried on my size varied. From what I saw when shopping, slimmer cuts and a closer fit are definately the current style. I wouldn't even venture to guess Craig's suit size except if he is really 5'10" then he would be a Regular in length. I would assume that Craig's suits in the Bond films are custom fit and made just for him. My favorite suits were Connery's in DN, FRWL, and GF. They are classic and timeless in style. You can actually order a repro of the GF suit from the original maker in London and there is another company that offers much cheaper copies of his suits. I wonder if anyone who posts on AJB has purchased any of them. The original GF suit from London was tempting but I was hesitant to buy clothing without being able to try it on first...they did offer it in a large array of sizes incl 38 short.
