The only thing I originally didn't like about TWINE, was how I
Thought they were pushing Q out and John Cleese in. Later
I learnt that it was Desmond who wanted less of a work load
So I was then OK with that. I was fine with the rest of the film

we get a cool finale in the sub.
The biggest damp squib of a climax since the oil rig shenanigans of DAF. Apted even admits on the DVD commentary that he had to reshoot parts of it because the preview audience didn't know what was going on.

    REPOST:

TWINE is not just an eh film! It starts off with one of the greatest PTS sequences in Bond history followed by a good song IMO. Then follow some cool action scenes (ski, caviar)and in the end we get a cool finale in the sub. Whilst there are some great quotes worth mentioning: "I never miss" and "She's waiting for you".
So en resumé TWINE is a Bond movie that goes down easily and smoothly and is simply great.
And I don't really know what's peoples issue with the so-called flat dialogue? Maybe besides the Christmas pun right in the end I can't think of anything where I was like"OMG what did he say?total crap this film!" and I don't get why everybody is CONSTANTLY bullying Denise Richards?! She played the part well enough. If you want believability maybe the main Bond girl then should have been the guy who played Dr.Arkov

    You make some good points.

TWINE started at a respectable 13 in my rankings (soon after CR was released) and has slowly declined in rankings mostly based on Bond forum Brosnan bashing, and my memory of it as a visual bore (as I mentioned on the previous page).

I haven't watched a Bond movie from start to finish in one session, without distractions, for a long time (I mostly watch bits and pieces of each film rather than the whole product).

I find that a start to finish changes my thoughts on the films. And to forget forum opinions - too much Brosnan bashing makes me depressed (this forum I've found is much more civilised).

yes, there seems to be a lot of Brosnan-bashing lately which I find highly disrespectful X-(

This forum is better, they get the flamethrowers out on the other forum. I do enjoy seeing him as Bond, regardless of the quality of his films. Maybe because he's my childhood Bond but in the end it doesn't matter - all 6 actors = B)

{[] Agreed, there is no problem having different opinions, if we
All remember, we're just mates with a common interest, we can
Disagree and still keep it friendly.
Like friends with a common interest in football, but support rival
    Teams. ;)
Luckily for me I like all the Bond films and actors, hence my chosen
sport to follow, women's beach volleyball. I don't care which team you
Support, I love them all. :))

On a serious note, I have read some comments that have been quite harsh,
and do wish, that perhaps some people would think twice before posting, as
you can always find less provocative language.
Someone may simply be an actor to you, but could be a childhood hero to the
Person you're talking to. ;) and I for one know how you can have all sorts of
Emotions tied up with your fan support.

TWINE is the strangest film for me- I never like it the same way twice. There have been times I absolutely adore it, and times it's left me a bit cold. I never know until I watch it which way it'll go for me. And honestly, that's kind of interesting to me...

...me too. It just doesn't work for me- yesterday I watched DAD, two days ago TB. No rhyme or reason, just as I fancy (though I did put DAD on to check the scene with the previous Bond girls behind M, I ended up watching the whole thing and thoroughly enjoying it).

{[] this is exactly how I find TWINE!! Hence one of the many reasons as to why it's at the top of my list - intrigue.

I've got respect for Bond stringing that idiot Christmas Jones along. She is so goddam sexy, why wouldn't you want to just have her tow along and have Christmas twice in one year ;)

I feel that TWINE is just "meh", I have a few reasons...

I really enjoyed the PTS, but then for me it just goes a bit downhill and I lose interest. The locations in TWINE don't really do much for me, and I also think the villains are paper-thin and a bit forgettable.

Robert Carlyle is annoying, and Denise Richards (whilst looking nice) just does not come across convincingly as a nuclear scientist (or whatever she is supposed to be).

Brozzer seems a bit on autopilot, and John Cleese just gets on my tits every time I see him in a Bond film (Luckily he was only in two, and two that I don't watch very often).

    That's it really.

out of submarine cars, steel teeth and numerous stunts Denise Richards is the thing that's unconvincing :))

I think Brozzer puts in an excellent effort, I don't agree that he's on autopilot - he is in GE. Not this. His acting with Judi Dench is bang-on, as some have suggested in this thread - regarding how much respect he still has for M, despite M not being exactly professional.

I have never like R, but I do enjoy that Q is able to take the piss out of him in TWINE. I HATE HIM IN DAD.

I probably wouldn't say on full auto pilot, but he just does not seem to be giving it as much as the first two (for me anyway).

I always feel sad when I see Desmond Llewelyn talk to Bond for the last time. Plus he looked like my grandad. Who passed away in 2006. Always gets me.

^ The Nobody Does It Better feature that was on the VHS (I think) and subsequent releases always made me a bit teary.

What's really interesting is that the Q "farewell" in TWINE was probably not supposed to carry as much meaning as it did.

I'm thinking of the first 30 minutes or so. The exposition is awful. There's something about retrieving money but then it turns into something about a stolen report and then there's also a kidnapping and ransom. All the same details presented through competent scripting and direction could have easily drawn the viewer in to the story.

Most of TWINE is a mess but at least you don't have a TND plot where they make it up on the spot..
