I know it's typical for Germany but I haven't heard it in the radio yet

I would have liked to have seen Noel Gallagher do it and think the Girl with X-ray Eyes would have been great. I first heard it around the time the first Spectre trailer was released and we were getting ideas of the plot.

Thought it went quite well. Some of the lyrics work especially well..

Great song on its own anyway. :)

Something like this with a bit more 'orchestration'would have been much better. just a bit more left field I like it...

Maybe even these chaps should have another chance...!! although not nearly as cool as Sam Smith...controversial I know!

Thanks for sharing that song Hoagie! I didn't know these guys were still around. Definitely going to check out their album. It is unfortunate that this band will never be picked again because of their unpopularity in the states (not sure about Britain). Which is a shame because this song has that Bond sound in it and they weren't even going for that. Imagine if they were given another chance? I think it would be fantastic! Oh well, one can only dream :D

    I think I just figured out something ! :D
I quite like American Country music, the likes of Vince Gill and he
too songs in Falsetto. Maybe that's why I like it so much ? :D

Listen to the Bee Gees for good falsetto. This song can't compare to anything those guys did!

So it's not " Falsetto " you guys have a problem with ?
It's Just Sam Smith you have a problem with ? :))

Do you think the Barry Gibb would have made a good Bond theme? Still, they had much better falsetto than Sam Smith.

In my opinion Sam Smith is bad at it and I feel like it doesn't belong in a James Bond song.

That's the great thing about Bond fandom, we all have so many
Different opinions. You guys have yours and I have the right one ! :p :))

Well if David Hasselhoff will do a cover...the falsetto will be something for the ages. :D

Every time the song gets played, Spectre gets a mention.

As in, "the movie's got to be better than this rubbish."

Okay TP. I have to admit the song is growing on me. I probably enjoy it more as a Sam Smith song than as a Bond song, but the more I hear it, the more I like it. You might just be a tastemaker after all, my friend! :))

No, Sam Smith has a problem with Falsetto I say :D

Sorry, but no. Smith's vocals in the lower register are fine. The orchestration sounds superb. The falsetto is, however, dreadful. And this plaintive wailing is simply grinding. Skyfall is not without its faults, but has drama, tension and anticipation. Bond is about passion. Scale. Can you imagine M reciting Tennyson with Smith crying in the background.

:o The theme hasn't been mentioned today :))

I was just thinking that Higgins should adopt it for his misty eyed fan club {[] :D

I've tried, tried and tried some more to like it.

Problem is I think it's awful, but as I stated previously it's done it's job and made a load of cash for the franchise and with that I'm pleased as I want there to be a Bond 25 and Bond 26.

It still doesn't make me like it on a personal level though.

Anyway I make it two weeks tomorrow that I can go and watch the film I just can't wait.

After a much hectic schedule, i finally had the oppurutnity of listening to Sam Smith. Yes, I have in fact never heard of him until recently. Overall, the song has a rather "this is the end finale" for Bond himself. I don't consider it to be the best nor the worst, more so that it actually might fit what the movie is about.

I've heard it several times now & it's grown on me. I can actually hum it - a good sign! Not a fan of Mr. Smith's vocals normally but like Adele (another artist I didn't care for) it's a pleasingly sung ballad. Certainly nothing to throw scorn at.

Just read on MI6 that there is an instrumental version on the soundtrack album......bet that is excellent (wonder if Newman did the arrangement?). I bet the instrumental version might play better over the opening titles and the vocal better suited for the end titles (like FRWL)?

Hopefully the theme music will flow through the film more than in Skyfall. It really makes a difference to the feel, continuity and identity of a Bond film IMO.

Finally got round to seeing the video.

The song will fit in perfectly with Newman's music. Soulful, emotive and well performed by Mr Smith. - But it's not memorable as a Bond Ballard. It's understated, fragile, almost apologetic! Seemingly playing into the current 007's "woe is me" background. No oomph, no pazass, none of the classic big band or poppy / rocky pomp that fits a signature Bond song.
The event days of signature Bond songs like those by Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Nancy Sinatra, Duran Duran and Chris Cornell seem to be over. Three uninspired theme songs in a row!

Still, on its own merits, separate from Bond it's a very nice song. But that kind of punctures the whole point. (Faceslaps.)
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Yeah true. Give it a week or so and hopefully we'll be able to hear it.
