The left eye is better on the Spectre version they do look good together

Sorry, my picture was the 100 year old version and the new SKYFALL version. Sadly RD didn't change the eyes on the SPECTRE version. It's exactly the same. They just darkened the colour scheme and added some crack details on the SPECTRE edition. It's still quite different from the version used on screen. But very nice all the same as it's James Bond's Jack now, so that makes it cooler than the plain SKYFALL version too.

I didn't notice that - good eye for detail

The finish on the new one is much more like the vintage version they used on screen. More yellowing and less bright colouring on the flag. The cracks, although not screen accurate are a very good representation and are more subtle as the screen used version has glue spills and much more damage on it.

When a certain Agent Fields checked out my two of those Jacks she commented on the original "But he's a funny colour", to which I pointed out so would she be when 70 years old!

Mine arrived, and I love it.. Far from screen accurate but very tastefully done, I hadn't realized they are so hand painted as to be totally unique - the two I purchased are totally different...

Well mine has arrived but none of the ones I've seen so far look anything close to the weathered look of their promotional one

My SPECTRE Jack has arrived :)
I think he's MUCH better than Skyfall Jack and more screen accurate too.

    Got mine today too...

although it's cheaper in Canada, luckily I have family there, so I ordered mine through the royaldoulton.ca website.

The Canadian dollar is cheap with the £, so it was worth it. I'm visiting home at Christmas, so will pick it up then. :D

In what way are they different?

They are not hand painted but uses print transfer which is a cheap way of decorating porcelain designed for mass production. It is not even bone China. I'm surprise Royal Doulton chose this method of manufacture considering the price they charge and what is probably their best selling and greatest PR product in years. The company are capable of making high quality hand painted pieces in their UK warehouse and it is an opportunity missed in showcasing their work to a whole new market. I've collected lots of stuff over the years but as standard goes the new RD bulldogs are low quality.

Interesting... As u can see in the pics these two came in the same shipment, and are obviously very different "breaks".

And I doubt this is a transfer as u suggest, as I tried "tilting" the "break" to get them to line up but coudn't..

Sorry you're obviously much more informed on this than I, but I'm actually persuaded by them being hand painted....

Anyway, I like them, feel RD did a good job, and for the money, are great value.

Are they the best porcelain RD can offer, no, but maybe they were actually thinking of the bond fan (as opposed to the Higgins/old man/pottery collector types who will pay fortunes for such....) 8-)

As to accuracy, I think asp is right, they could have made him much more accurate, but some are clearly quite accurate ... This is the screen seen versions against one of mine

    - the side crack on jack's right goes much lower than the RD versions....
    - the upper crack is much higher on screen used than RD version.

I'm sure there are other differences but life's short..

I was never interested in the Skyfall Jack, as it was made of bone china. Can one of the new proud owners confirm what material the new one is made of?

The screenused SPECTRE Jacks differ even from those SKYFALL props as they bought in new ones and give them a similar paint job. The reason they had to do this was because the SKYFALL props had applied cracks in a paint that spread slightly when they were sprayed with clearcoat after the filming had finished to preserve the work for the exhibitions and archiving. They had to do this as handling would have eventually rubbed it all off as most was waterbased paint.

I like my jack. I don't usually like pottery and clutter, but this little guy is quite cool; I just need a better desk now.

Damn! I was just about to order this on Amazon for $59, but I decided to keep browsing around Amazon for a bit. Then when I went back to my shopping cart, the price shot up to $100! This guy's price seems to be fluctuating quite a bit so hopefully it comes back down. This would've been my first bond collectible too!

And now it's back to $70 after submitting that last message :)) I think I'll wait and see if it goes back down to $50-$60 though. I will not procrastinate next time it drops :))

It's been discussed before in the original SKYFALL Jack thread. The reason the bulldog appears so frequently in these scenes and in SF is due to the fact that there has always been one in the real head of MI6's office from Mansfield-Cummings day to the present.

My old Boss told me at the time of shooting SF that EON used one of the bulldogs from TTSS in M's office.
