    Lazenby and Dalton are not too dissimilar in there Approaches to the Role -{

If there are any similarities it's because both of them based their performances very closely on Ian Fleming. However, Lazenby didn't have the acting experience to pull it off convincingly, and Dalton did.

    why would he?

Dalton had acting experience - that does not mean that he played Bond well 8-)

For a guy that supposedly never acted before OHMSS, George was amazing as Bond. I feel like his mannerisms and delivery of lines were nearly spot-on Connery. Imagine if that guy would have been in all the Bonds up into the late 80s? He would've been a household name and probably my favorite Bond. I'm glad we got what we did though, because Roger is my favorite.

But yeah, I agree with what you say about his performance in OHMSS, it's pretty amazing...

I'd love to see both Lazenby and Dalton played Bond in at least 2 more films.

I'm asking this in all seriousness because I've never searched out lazenby's cinematic catalogue but has he EVER made a good film (other than ohms)? I know it's fun to talk about what might have been but every other bond can point at good - excellent performances outside of bond. Does lazenby have any ( not sure that Kentucky fried movie qualifies)

Yes. He was sexily damaged, looked like he could and would beat the hell out of someone and then take you out to a jazz club. With some more experience he would have been spectacular.

As a side note nothing is better than Lazenby walking out of the ocean with his wet transparent shirt…

None of his others that I've seen were that good, but I've only seen three of them. Stoner was probably the best, but nowhere close to OHMSS.

Could Lazenby have been the Greatest 007? Probably not. He did a good job in OHMSS, but it was a movie which already had a great script, great cast, great director and great locales. While he would have developed his acting skills, those 70's scripts would have been rough for him.

I think he would have done really well in TlDL. Dalton had not sexual chemistry with Maryam d'Abo. Also I think the film would have been better with a little more grit. Lazenby could have brought that to the movie.

As someone who remembers the time well when Lazenby took over from Connery, I believe that no matter who had signed on for the gig, they would always have struggled after Sean.

I'm sure thats why the public were far more resceptive for Moore's Bond when he took over in 1973.

Up until the last 10 years I always struggled to watch OHMSS mainly because I have biase which is because I remember the time so well.

It's funny OHMSS is my favourite Bond novel by a country mile, it's only now that like an express train I approach my 60's, I've mellowed and I can now appreciate OHMSS for what it actual is, a damn fine Bond film.

    It's just a shame I didn't feel like that in 1969.

The guy could easily have grown in the role (not sure about him becoming the greatest) .... He did not need to do any other films than Bond. However, he got some wrong advise from his agent (may be the agent was also secretly working for Moore) :))

I doubt he would have been the greatest but I would have loved to have seen him in DAF.

I like that he only did one. I'm watching OHMSS now (over 2 nights), and the film has an interesting feel to it because he only did one. It's almost like the elusive Bond film - and that intrigue makes the film even better.

Would've been good to see him do DAF, but not at the expense of Roger coming in for LALD.

Lazenby was immense as Bond, he could have gone on to greater things but it's great his film is a one off Imo, it's a very special film.

Lazenby was just ok in OHMSS. EON was looking for a Connery clone and you can't clone charisma which goes way beyond looks. IMO, Lazenby if he cleaned up his act and applied himself to becoming a better actor would certainly have improved but comparing him to Dalton in my world is sacrilege. Dalton was a well regarded classically trained stage and film actor. As we all should recall, Dalton needed no introduction in the PTS of TLD to be recognized immediately as Bond...he just looked up into the camera and everyone knew he was Bond. Just imagine Dalton in his prime in OHMSS. As good a Bond film as it was he would have elevated it to being one of the greatest action/adventures of all time.

We can't know for certain how Dalton would've worked out in OHMSS.

No doubt that the man had serious acting chops by the time he became 007, whereas Lazenby was a model when he got the part.

But what happened, happened, and I think Laz did a pretty good job in OHMSS.

I'd like to have a body like '69 Laz.

I agree that Dalton would have been great in OHMSS, but it's too bad he was too young.
