In Germany, it's the same, unfortunately :#

I don't know, I grew up with great respect fopr all kind of animals (though I enjoy a T-Bond Steak now and then) and these cruel stories touch me very deeply.

I am asking myself, if those punks are acting in full awareness what they do - so are big a-holes or if some of them grew up with no knowledge and experience for the nature.

As a side note, as (some of you may know) I take care for hedgehogs here:

Dog owners, please keep your dogs on a leach in the forest now.
Wildlife have found their winter places and need to save energy, every disturbance can be lethal for them - no matter if birds, deer or hedgehogs.

There are many bad dog owners, I've met so many people
( When walking in forest parks etc) who let their dogs off
the lead, but have no control of their dog!
Mine stays on his lead at all times, because he's very aggressive
( only to other dogs, Not people) and I'd have no control of him.
I also clean up after him ( keeps your hands warm in the winter) ;)
There is the famous quote, that not everyone who abuses animals
goes on to abuse people, but ALL serial killers and abusers have started
Killing and torturing animals. Anyone who gets pleasure from inflicting
Pain on an animal, has a serious mental problem, and I'd go so far to
Say that they could easily move on to people.

Are there animal police in the UK and Germany? I hear there are that kind of units in som countries and it's being considered here.

Being cruel to animals is of cource discusting. Personally I didn't have any pets while growing up, but I did grow up on a farm.
The animals were mostly good-tempered, but sometimes their blood was up. When an ox or a large calf (the sheep were never a problem that way :)) ) came at you in an agressive way, one sometimes had to hit them on the nose or give them a well-placed kick. I don't consider that animal cruelty, more crowd control or self defence.

Cows can be very dangerous, My wife is a Farmer's daughter and she has
loads of stories, of people being trampled by them, But I think there is a
difference between moving and controlling farm animals, and torturing some
    little Puppy.
I know over here the RSPCA works with the Police on animal matters, but
I don't know if there is an actual unit, specialising in animal matters.

Cows and oxes be dangerous, yes. Some yesrs ago a ten year old boy living in the closest village had all the air knocked out of him by a cow. When absolutly all the air is out of the lungs it's very hard to start breathing again. Sadly the boy died. Sometimes farmer have to use violence against the animals, but sadism is somthing else entirely.

Only a few months ago, a Farmer over here was killed, crushed by
    Several cows. :#

I was nearly attacked by a cow on my farm in September 2013. It kept coming at me with its head and then it took off thankfully. A very scary experience. :#

My wife wouldn't let our daughters up to the family farm, when they
Were moving cattle, as it was just too dangerous. Which at the time
was news to an " Urban socialite " like me. :)

I had an uncle who used " The stomach lead". Every time he called his dog
For anything, it got a treat. So it meant, when called the dog always returned
    to him. :D
I remember walking my last dog, through a forest, after passing a couple of
Young men. The dog did something ( can't remember) so I shouted at her.
The two guys, ducked and turned round looking shocked ( I think, they thought
They were about to be attacked) :)) as I have a " Sergeant Major" type voice.
In fact when my daughters were very young my wife did tell me not to shout at
Them, the same way I did with the dog. :D

I believe pigs eat human flesh, but I imagine few people stay around to let the pig nibble on them while they're still alive .....

On the other hand, I know for a fact that humans eat pigs! :o
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
They do bite, I know that. They will eat meat no problem. As in Snatch.
Cut off the head and hands, and let the pigs eat the body...... I feel sorry
for doing it, to my mate on his Stag do :# but what the hell we were all
    P*ssed at the time. ;)

My work are threatening me with a Disciplinary because I refuse to do overtime. I'm tired, burnt out and they still expect more. I've already done over 600 hours this year alone. But I've stopped for the past two month. So I'll find out tomorrow what's going to happen. Everyone at work agrees I'm in the right.

That's harsh...they can make things difficult but disciplinary action seems wrong - unless your contract states that you agree to do a 'reasonable amount' of overtime...then it becomes tricky :#

Well fellas and ladies. I'am still employed. They turned around and said forget the past (including all the hours I've put in) and stop living in it. Lets talk about the now. It isn't a threat, it's a fact. They've talked to the solicitor, blah blah. If one of us didn't agree to do it, there would be further action taken. My mate couldn't do it since he's also in the same boat. So I told them I would come in tomorrow from 6am till 12pm and that's it.

I felt like a piece of rubbish. These are the type of people I work for. I've worked there for 7 years. Worked copious amounts of overtime, work of a great standard. Four sick days and I have never been late. Nice way to treat the people that bust a gut.

Robbo that does not seem right to me. I have done a little digging & found this:

    https://www.gov.uk/overtime-your-rights/compulsory-overtime

Please read as it may prove of use. Of course your case will depend on your contract with your employer but from what I can gather you cannot be forced to work more than 48 hours per week unless you have signed a contract expressing a wish to do so.

    Hope it helps.

Robbo88, Stag is right. Technically you could claim constructive dismissal if they treat you unfairly which could include making you work excessive hours if you have not previously signed a waiver within your contract. I'm sure the EU also imposes restrictions on the number of hours which may be worked. What do you do? Can you speak with a union or an employment solicitor? 18 hours seems ridiculous. Good luck with this in any case.
