FYEO defintely grew on me, despite the fact I always liked it. Now I enjoy all the aspects, except perhaps Lynn Holly Johnson. But probably the winner would be FRWL, when I went from thinking it was too slow and boring to enjoying those slower moments.
OHMSS. It was one of my least favorite movies for a long time, but after reading the book I began to appreciate the movie much more.

Moonraker for me. As much as its not a great Bond movie, I do think it is a lot of fun. Plus, it does have some great scenes. Meeting Drax, the death of Corrine are 2 of them.
Octopussy for me! This one ranked at the very bottom for me at one point. Wow was I missing out back then! Kamal Khan is my pick for most underrated villain. The stunts are very impressive and I feel the comparisons to Indiana Jones are a reason why they went underappreciated. The final plane fight, the scenes on the train, all great stuff. Are there moments where they push the comedy bits too far? Yes. But if you appreciate it as a product of its time, you laugh along with it instead of roll your eyes like I use to. Even if you dislike those moments, small 5 second segments shouldn't ruin a film that has a lot of good going for it.

When I was a kid, I didn't care for OHMSS. It was always the movie with that guy who wasn't Connery or Moore for me. I thought the first half was slow and boring. Now that I understand the plot, it's one of my favorites. The action scenes are actually better than any of the previous films, and George is rad.

This seems to be the case for most Bond fans. Non-Bond fans, however, that I've shown it too like it on the first viewing because they don't have the same expectations that fans of other Bonds already have.

Some of the reasons why OP has grown on me:
I used to think the circus stuff was lame and didn't fit the cold-war vibe of East Berlin. However, I watched a 1987 German film called Wings of Desire and it focused a lot on the circus as if it was an integral part of city life.
Reading the Fleming short stories Property of a Lady and Octopussy made me appreciate how they were woven into the film. Plus the Blades section of Moonraker. "Spend the money quickly, Mr. Bond"
I used to be bothered by Moore's age in this one, but he owns the role with such confidence that I can easily let it slide.
The Catching Bullets book opens with a chapter on Octopussy and it's clear the author is a big fan. His enthusiasm for the film and interesting observations swayed me quite a bit.

I love this film and find your thoughts on it very interesting. As a kid I found it boring, but that was my only complaint. Now it's one of my favourites, and Moore is truly brilliant throughout it. He transitions from the gags to the very serious moments very well.
Another one for me is GF. Saw it on TV lately and it went up a bit on my list. Not hugely though. But I now prefer it to FRWL, when it used to be the other way round.

I agree with this wholeheartedly, IMO I think it is his best peformance because there's an excellent balance of humour and seriousness. While the film is slightly too light at times, I think for Moore it's a better blend than FYEO.
When he's funny he's funny and when he's serious he's deadly serious.
His performance in the clown suit to me is an outstanding effort to make himself be taken seriously and for me shows how much of a decent actor Sir Rog really is.

I'd say it's Moore's best performance along with The Man Who Haunted Himself. Though Moore is known for joking around, Bond is never as serious as he is dressed as a clown.
Octopussy or Moonraker for me.. Not that I ever disliked them when I was younger, I've just grown to be a big fan of the Roger Moore era. Both are fun films to watch, both can be absolutely ridiculous at times. Both have wonderful locations, great one liners & memorable villains.
FRWL has been something that's recently improved for me. When I was getting into JB I was quite young and didn't totally appreciate the slow pace of the film. The BluRay has also helped how I feel about the film, because the restoration looks so fantastic.
My viewing tonight of QOS has radically changed my ranking. After FOUR consecutive viewings of SP and subsequently tonight's QOS I have been forced to switch SP & QOS....
