That is not my intention. I really want to know what womens opinions are about Bond.
Is he a sexist misogynist dinosaur or the perfect man?
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I can give you my wifes opinion, that's that T Dalton is simply sex on legs. and that Bond Fans are only slightly higher up the scale than Star Trek or Dr Who fans! :#

Well, I think the spectrum of Bond fans is quite wide.... I wouldent put them all into one box.... as I try not to with any people...
  • chrisno1chrisno1 LondonPosts: 3,172MI6 Agent
As a Bond fan, I'm rather pleased to be further up the scale than a Trekkie or a Whoite.....
So long as I don't lag behind that ghastly Potter wizard thingummy I'm a happy bunny....
Most of my g/fs don't / didn't understand my interest in all things 007 at all. One of them said about OHMSS "Why are you watching this when the XFactor is on?" Saying I didn't like X factor was not the correct answer apparently.

My wife will happily watch CR and QoS on Blu-ray once a week...and it ain't coz of the Aston Martin! Thanks to her semi-infatuation, we have enjoyed all of the other Bond films together but I can safely say that no one else comes close to good ol'Daniel in her eyes. She likes the action, the fine lifestyle and the great locations, but I'm not sure she really cares whether Bond is a mysogynistic dinosaur as long as he's good good pecs!

You duplicitous traitor.. you forgot about all us ladies in the Bond Girl Watercooler thread!? :o I am busy and have no time to post but that doesn't change who I am! (And it doesn't change your shameless flirting either :x;%:)))

To me, Bond is prince charming ever since I was 2 and I saw my first Sean Connery Bond movie. Don't care that he kills, drinks, seduces.. that's exactly what makes him prince charming. Because it's real man prince charming, not the fake stuff. With dashing looks, a ridiculous amount of sex appeal and elegance and class with ladies. (even when he dumps them :)))

And, favourite Bond so far, Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery. :D

Hopefully favourite Bond in the NEAR FUTURE, Mr Henry Cavill.
"Are we on coms?" (if you don't know where this is from... you've missed some really good stuff! :D)

Couldn't agree with you more Lady Rose..... I might not have Lady in my name..... but I'm certainly no man ;) - even if my height is taller than the average one :D

My favourite Bond is Craig - with Dalton a close second.

I love Bond, because although he is typically sexist - I think deep down he has manners of a gentleman, opens doors for ladies, stands up when a lady enters a room - good with gun, knows how to order a bottle of wine.... and handles his equipment like a true pro ;) - I think most girls would be like to be seduced by him - even if they don't think they should, or try hard not fall for his charms. (Take Vesper for an example!)

I know I would much rather be shaken, than stirred, any day of the week :D :x

well...I'm not lady-LIKE but I 'spose I am one all the same :P

Sean Connery is my favorite Bond, followed closely by Tim Dalton - and YES Bond, is sexist and doesn't quite treat woman the way he should, but I love the character, and have since the tender age of 9.

And as Lexi says, he does have the manners of a gentleman...and any man who knows his wine and food is fine by me :007)

I'm not quite as tall as you Lexi, but tall enough ( 5'10") I reckon if we see NP in a dark alley we could take him :v :))

I cant really add much to that. Its absolutely 'bad boy' syndrome with Bond. He has all the hallmarks of a gentlman but you know it would be a dangerous ride ;%

Well i'm not a lady but I can speak for my girlfriend that she thinks Daniel Craig is easily the hottest Bond. (Which always suprised me, I was totally expecting her to pick Connery or Brosnan!) For some odd reason even the final scene in SP, where Bond comes down the elivator in Q's lab in a suit, for some reason she found to be very sexy ...

Ohwell, if there's another man in her life she has to find sexy, i'm glad it's Bond! :D

Excellent topic! My girlfriend (who, BTW I am very fortunate that she actually watches and enjoys the Bonds with me) clearly names Connery and then Moore as her favorites. She liked Pierce, too. Initially I guess she didn't think much of Tim when TLD came out, but we were watching some of his Chuck episodes last year and I showed her the 2 Bonds. She liked him after giving it another viewing and said he was handsome. Craig, also, she wasn't that interested in seeing until we watched SF. With SP, though Craig won her over. George, on the other hand is her least favorite. She didn't think he was handsome at all (and to her looks far better now).
But easily Connery and Moore. Sean had that old school masculinity, and unlike some of the leading men today, in the 60s he still represented the suave, yet rough appeal that the Golden Age actors from the 40s and 50s had. Same with Roger, to a degree. She especially likes him on THE SAINT. Roger is very much a gentlemen, which is what she likes about him. Also, his work with UNICEF, and the fact he answers fan questions on his website are big points in his favor.

My gf loves Craig. Likes PB and likes SC more at his older age. As does my mother and sister. They think Connery aged well.

I prefer Scaramanga played by Sir Christopher Lee, such a handsome actor, as Christopher says villians are more interesting and i totally agree with him. I miss Christopher has i have been a following fan since 1958. i just love his singing voice and his films, i am still waiting for the film called Cross-Roads 1955 B/W film on DVD for 20 mins he played a good part in this film not a bad man.

Welcome to AJB, and you'll find much admiration for the great Sir Christopher here not least from myself.
This isn't the best thread, though- please take a look at the "Search" function and perhaps find a more appropriate one, or start a new thread if that doesn't work.

Here's a few which may be interesting: http://www.ajb007.co.uk/search/297918576/
