The penultimate episode of the Night Manager shows more of how Tom Hiddleston might look as Bond. His brutal killing of an opponent (I'm trying hard not to reveal any spoilers here), quick thinking, spycraft all point, in my opinion, to a direction I would love to see the films take.
Also, I loved TH's outfit at the Haven. I was after the UBACS shirt he was wearing but at £190 for the Crye G3, I think I'll finda cheaper alternative.
I really can't wait for the final episode now. Having returned to his old hotel - will it all go horribly wrong?
I'm being good and waiting for Sunday. That's the problem with the digital age - everything is so NOW NOW NOW. Instant gratification. When I was a kid I remember saving up pocket money for stuff and waiting eagerly for Saturday to come so I could watch Airwolf. Oh the excitement of waiting for wrestling to finish, banging an Irn Bru out of the soda stream, and popping open a bag of salt n shake crisps!!!!
Now episodes of favourite TV shows are being leaked online and people are clamouring to watch them when they should be savouring the anticipation of waiting. It makes the experience all the more enjoyable.
And don't forget kids, watching leaked programmes on the internet harms future productions.
The most annoying thing, is then people who have watched it, spilling the beans on what

like David Walliams at the Spectre premier, several times mentioning how Blofeld was back.
Not a huge spoiler, but it did make him sound like a kid trying to prove he'd all ready seen it.

Having had time to contemplate the ending of the Night Manager, I really don't think a second series should be commissioned. Everything should be left as it is now. It went full circle with Pine finishing up in Egypt and that's it. As much as I enjoyed it, to make a second series would probably ruin it.
Great series - very close to the novel, although locations have changed. Hugh Laurie played the character well - but check out Laurie's novel The Gun Seller - it's a good read and I can't help thinking he saw the chance of playing Roper in the way he would have played his own literary villain.

But like back in the day when people said Clive Owen would make a good Bond I think that any media hype could ruin his chances. I worry that although it is obvious he would be great to us. I don't remember Craig's name mentioned at all prior to his announcement.
However, Moore and Brosnan were both names that were bandied about before their appointment .
I series linked it and watched it back to back as I knew I would be away for 3 episodes.
I too remember as a kid waiting for Saturday's to watch air wolf. And drinking soda stream and when I was older the X files. (I remember it on bbc2 when it first started).
Now my kids want to watch everything instantly and are constantly steaming online to find things.
I'm not sure about night manager, it was to bond for me rather than le carre. If it was an audition then it was good but I still got the feeling TH was out of his depth.

some of the close ups during a dramatic sequence are only inches from the actors face, so you can

It was 1994-that's 22 years ago ! thought it was a long time ago.
As for Tom H. I think he should stick to playing Loki in The Avengers films. He's not a Bond type.
I want the next Bond to be black-haired 30s Connery type and allow 15 years if he will do several films at 3 year gaps.
I finished reading The Night Manager last Friday after a month of reading. It was quite a long haul, much longer than the sort of novel that I usually read. Bond novels tend to be my ideal novel length. I thought it was a really good read, and I enjoyed it immensely.
Then over the weekend I watched the series, which I thought was equally good, despite being a different animal. The last third of the series is very different to the novel in the way it plays out, but I think it worked well for the screen. I thought the entire cast was exemplary, especially Hugh Laurie, Tom Hollander, Olivia Colman and Tom Hiddleston. I didn't find myself giving much thought to whether or not Hiddleston would make a good Bond while watching, but I do think he would be a good candidate for Bond. I think that he has all the right qualities.

Yes i agree very good , some cracking Dramas on BBC & ITV they all seem to come at once there'll be sod all to watch after May . Marcella is good on ITV on Monday but characters keep drifting in and out confusing me thankfully the wife explains it to me afterwards .

I can see why people are saying The Night Manager is Tom Hiddleston's audition for Bond. I just finished episode 3 and it's great. I'm going to stop here and wait for the Blu-ray. Enjoy the whole thing over a weekend. I've seen a few interviews with Tom Hiddleston and I bet he loves the old Bond movies. He seems to be not just a good actor but someone who really likes movies. I bet if he were to take the Bond role he wouldn't just want to replace Daniel Craig but start over and get the Bond look right with the hair style / color.
The Night Manager is very much like the old Bond movies at times with the music and giving time to the settings. I imagine that there will be a few more action sequences towards the end. I didn't see anyone mention it, but the show reminds me very much of Licence to Kill. How Bond wants revenge and infiltrates Sanchez' operation. The women in The Night Manager are also very much Bond girl types. The exotic Egyptian lady and the extremely tall and beautiful blonde girl. Roper has the huge Bond villain lair type home with classic cars around. It's a really good show from what I'm seeing.
