How do you think what happened to the Walther p99 in quantum of solace

As the topic.
In Casino Royale was normal and quantum of solace was already ppk.
I think that may have ppk Bond in the car as his private, backup weapon, and p99 was as an accessory.

Waiting for your opinions.

I suspect he lost the P99 when he tried to rescue Vesper. The PPK was likely issued to him by the MI6 crew that showed up to assist him in apprehending Mr. White.

The p99 disappeared and in the venice palazzo, after that cdsdss has a valid point as Bond arrived at Mr whites villa in the yacht so somehow the db9 got there and the ppk with it. Possibly the same time he took off his waistcoat!

Well, we don't really know that Bond arrived there on the yacht. That's just the last time we saw him before the confrontation with Mr. White. As QOS showed us, MI6 had an operation in place when Bond returned with him. We don't know how much time passed between the penultimate scene in CR and the last scene.

As for the waistcoat...er...he wanted to be comfortable for the car chase?

Mr white gets out of his Jag and looks down at bonds spirit yacht, moored in the Lake.

Bond must have arrived at Mr White's in his DBS, as that's how he transports Mr White to the safe house in QoS. It's highly unlikely he planned to abduct Mr White in a yacht.

In fact the one in the picture is really just Mr White's RC one:

I don't particularly care what happened to the P99 in QoS, I just can't wait for Bond to use it again!

I thought Bond should have used it in Austria when he met with Mr. White. It'd be easier to use with gloves.

Kinda wished they would have had Bond giving Madeline the firearms instruction with the P99. It would have been a nice callback to CR.

As I understand it, Daniel Craig wanted to use the Walther PPK more given its long history with the James Bond series. It was why it was absent in Quantum Of Solace.
It is kind of of funny how thee P99 has disappeared in the movies, but has been retained in all of the recent video games. If it was up to me I would have had the P99 turn up in Spectre. Similar to the Glock 17 carbine conversion, their is a prototype set up for the Walther P99 to make it into a machine pistol, although I do not know if it ever made it past the testing stage. Like cdsdss, I agree that the firearms instruction scene would have been a perfect time to use the P99 again.

I like how Bond is using the PPK again, but I think the next Bond would be a great time to introduce a more modern gun, and one that can be concealed more easily than the P99. I think the only gun Daniel Craig could conceal would be one made of paper. :D

I'm no gun expert by any means, but IMO the logical modern successor to the PPK for concealed carry would appear to be the Walther PPS M2. The PPS M2 is compact, 9mm, and actually looks decent relative to modern automatics. The P99 makes more sense stowed in the glove box of Bond's car for when heavier firepower is needed....or even better yet, if he really needs some serious stopping power, the new Walther PPQ 45, which fires the same 45 ACP round as the old US Colt 45 auto.

Maybe it's because I grew up watching Bond with the PPK, or perhaps I'm missing the point, but to me I love seeing Bond with the PPK.

It's a more elegant, curvy pistol than the modern ugly, squat pistols (like the PPS or a Glock) and IMO looks like it could be easily concealed than the heavier pistols.

I loved how Connery, only needed one shot to dispatch a villain. :)

The .32 PPK is the Chuck Norris of handguns, it can down a helicopter at several hundred yards with a single round :v

There's no arguing that the Walther PPK is a classic and beautiful handgun (still being produced today) and certainly very lethal in the hand of trained assassin and marksman like James Bond; I don't have any problem with the modern Bond continuing to carry the PPK as a personal protection concealed weapon but I wouldn't mind seeing him carry something a bit more state of the art either. I do however have a bit of a problem in SPECTRE with Bond shooting down a helicopter from long range with a PPK, especially in light of move toward a bit more realism those films have taken. At least in FRWL Bond shoots down a copter with a rifle (he actually pops a bad guy holding a live grenade in the chopper) which is like a documentary compared to the SPECTRE shot. The least they could have done is had Bond grab an assault rifle or machine pistol from someone to shoot down the copter.

That irked me as well and made me think to myself "oh come on really?" when I saw it. It showed a drop in realism that the Craig films have usually strived for. Skyfall showed a more realistic usage of the PPK in 2012, if you remember Bond, Eve, and M dont hit anything with it the entire film except two fire extinguishers.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only thing Blofeld achieved by drilling bonds brain was improving his marksmanship, in Sf bond couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo!

The New Statesman feature? I skimmed through it a couple of years ago, but didn't read it in detail.

Even JamesBondRadio commented on Bond's superb marksmanship in bringing
