The Canadian Ambassador Kevin Vickers would make a great Bond. ;)
As he tackles a protestor, trying to disrupt a religious service for British
Soldiers who died in the Irish Easter Rising.
He was the sergeant-at-arms in the Canadian parliament, who shot dead a
gunman who rampaged through the building in 2014.

I remember that ,good for him

    Yes, a great have-a-go hero. :x

Well, it obviously affects black people more noticeably than white people for a start.

I'm now going to write something good about Trump-voting Republicans and negative about Democrats! :o

From what I hear more Democrats than Republicans believe in UFO's. Well done, Republicans!
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
But surely the phenomenon of UFOs ( An unexplained sighting, of an unknown object ) does
Infact exist ? Only silly part is people's Interpretation of what they've actually seen ! :D

There are no UFO's. It's a silly superstition, unlike Christianity that's completely sensible and scientific! :D

I'm sorry but with the news today that Professional boxers will be allowed to compete in the
Olympics, is the end of the amateurs games. The end of the Olympics, it was bad enough when
They changed the rules to keep out the enthusiastic amateurs like Eddie the Eagle or Eric the eel.

I read Tyson on about this the other day. Reckons an Amateur will end up beating a pro. Hopefully he's right

I think you'll find most of the Olympic athletes are pretty much pro anyway...you can't honestly believe that Usain Bolt is an 'amateur'...?...what about the tennis players - they are all pro...

It all changed in the 90s didnt it?

Believe it all depends / classified on pay

E.g Bolt is a professional athlete as its his full time profession however I guess there are some athletes who may have to hold down a part time job hence have amateur status

Quick google brings up that pre 1990 only amateurs were allowed to compete in the olympics then i guess it all changed.

I presume that in the past boxing has always had amateur only athletes hence the fuss as prob all the loud mouth pros will turn it into the farce pro boxing had become

...and the footballers. What's the rule now? Something like 'first world' football countries (ie Europe, South America etc) players can be professional but must be under age 23 plus teams are allowed three over-23 players, while 'developing world' football countries (everywhere else) can field anyone they like regardless of age or professional status. I think that's how it works, but certainly all of the footballers are professional these days.

Basketball is even worse. Just look at that U.S. 'Dream Team' years ago which had Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson among others. Then there's the tennis who are all top-paid pros. And the list goes on and on. Of course, even when the Olympics arguably were genuinely amateur, the Eastern bloc countries' athletes were actually professional in the sense that all were paid full-time salaries and provided with housing, food and full-time coaching by the government just to be athletes.

I lost interest in the Olympics years ago. Between the professional/amateur thing, the dubious judges, the dodgy selection committee members and the rampant drug use, what's to like anymore?
