One thing that has always bothered me in one of my favourite Bond movies is this:

In FRWL Kronstein says: "Because the man the British will almost certainly use on a mission of this sort would be their agent James Bond." However, isn't this whole plan based on Tanya specifically requesting James Bond to escort her back to England? It is not like MI6 has a choice on who they send out to Turkey, right?

That's a good point actually - she clearly knew of their existence befor SF, so......why didn't she send any of her agents to investigate and kill Sciarra before? And how did she know Lucia would be at the funeral and lead Bond to Spectre?

It's not very unlikely that the widow would be at the funeral, is it? it was also more likely that Lucia would tell on SPECTRE after her husband was dead and burried. it is even possible M knew SPECTRE would try to kill Lucia, and if Bond saved her she would be much more likely to talk.

I always assumed that she expected Oberhauser to turn up and that Bond would recognize him.

I think this whole aspect is a mess, and a legacy from an earlier script where she was (according to my chum who has read all the available drafts) part of Spectre herself. This goes someway to accounting for her presence in the rouges gallery) in any event it's a real dogs breakfast. How much It bothers you is a matter of choice. Some of my friends don't care at all and adopt a 'chill out its only a Bond film' approach. Others, myself included really struggle with it.

Watching SF, I've always thought the overhead shot of the helicopters at Silva's island looked a bit iffy. The helicopters look like really bad CGI (were they?)

They were real Wildcats, or should I say Wildcat ;) but put into the scene by CGI. Pilot was one of the Army Air Corps trial pilots called Tony Cooke, he is also a top class model maker http://www.florymodels.co.uk/ah-7-lynx-132/

Just watched FYEO. During the phone call to Maggie, why does Frederick Gray call Q an idiot? How was he supposed to know that there was a parrot on the other end? It just seemed really uncalled forl

I guess because Bond's end of film bang always gets certain people in trouble or embarrassed! Thinking about it, getting caught in the act via technology seems happens in TMWTGG, TWSWLM, MR, FYEO, AVTAK and TWINE.

And Freddy Gray is a curmudgeon who is easily embarrassed and doesn't know how to handle his embarrassment. It's a natural way to act and thus a good bit of writing for his character.

    OP:

So does Kamal keep his loaded dice hidden away in his pocket somewhere and only bust them out when he needs a double six?
He certainly can't be rolling a double six every single turn.

I barely know how to play backgammon, but apparently Cubby and Roger were quite fond of the game so I would think their portrayal would be accurate. Would Bond also need a double six to beat Kamal at that particular moment?

    and

The BD-5J mini-jet supposedly has a range of several hundred miles. Why does Bond run out of fuel so quickly?

I think that the double-six idea is a variation of the game invented by Kamal - he says to the major "you can only win on a double-six".

Many reasons on the 2nd niggle, such as the style in which James was flying it used a lot of fuel, it wasn't fully filled etc. Now you mention it, did they just make it run out of fuel so he could say "filler-up please?"

Watching CR06. Is Le Chiffre Asthmatic? In every scene he's in, he has an inhaler.

It's a nod to the book, where Le Chiffre uses a Benzedrine inhaler.

Why is Nick Nack pissed off with Bond? I know the fun house was blown up, but it's not like Scaramanga would've kept his earnings underneath his matress. He would've kept it in a bank somewhere, so Nick Nack would still get his inheritance. Or did he consider Scaramanga a friend and he is trying to avenge his boss's death?

I think it's because of the beautiful house and island powered by solar energy that Bond destroyed.

It had to happen that way because Guy Hamilton directed the film and that's how all his Bond films end. NicK Nack on the boat, TeeHee on the train, Wint Kidd on the boat, and Goldfinger on the plane. The latter being the main boss instead of henchman due to Oddjob being killed first.

I agree though....Nick Nack's character was written like he might actually prefer Scaramanga dead.
I bet he was upset about the explosions on the island. Nevermind that it was a total accident to blow up the plant.

Personally I would have enjoyed a happier ending for Nick Nack.

Why would Nick Nack care if the explosion was accidental or not? It's Goodnight's fault his home was destroyed. Bond would have taken the Solex anyway, and Nick Nack would have gone after him for that because his home would have needed it for power. Though it obviously was powered somehow before without the Solex.

And he did have a happier ending compared to practically every other Bond baddie: he survives!

Where are Bond and Solitaire travelling from and to on the train at the end of Live and Let Die? I'd assume they're going to New York because Bond mentions the 21 Club. It's confusing because they wouldn't be taking a train off the island of San Monique, even though that's where they were in the previous scene. Did they take a boat to Miami to catch the train? Did they go back to New Orleans to catch the train? It would certainly take more than 16 hours from there to New York by train, though I think a train that doesn't stop might be able to go from New York to Miami in that time. But the train car says "Santa Fe" on it, and I don't think the Santa Fe railroad went to New York.

Why does Scaramanga have preparations for a flying car? He has his boat nearby, so why didn't he just drive to that and sail away? And even if it was so he couldn't be caught, how does the boat end up back at his island by the end? He or Nick Nack would then have to fly back to land and sail the boat back to his island, but the film suggests Bond goes to the island quite soon after, so he wouldn't have time.

Also, why does Drax say Bond's reputation proceeds him? I know Lazar says it to him, but that's understandable as someone like him would have probably heard about someone like Bond. But why Drax? He doesn't work with any criminal organisations, so he wouldn't know who Bond is.

Who does Drax call when he hires Jaws? The rent-a-henchman service?

I've always thought Drax phones a handler, who arranges assassins.
Scarramanga would have multiple escape routes I'm sure, he also has other employees so maybe one of them brought the boat back??
Cant answer how a spy with the British secret service has such a well known reputation??? Maybe whoever explained to Drax they were sending an agent to investigate his shuttle disappearing assured Drax they were sending the best?
