Does anyone remember how people felt about Layer Cake before Daniel Craig was picked? Were they all saying that it was his audition for Bond? It was a good movie and I remember a few Bond like scenes with him posing with a gun. But perhaps the interest in Tom Hiddleston as Bond will work against him. I say this because I remember many saying that Clive Owen should be Bond and there seemed to be tons of people that wanted him for the role just like Tom Hiddleston. But that didn't happen.

Clive Owen might have been a good Bond...but the difference between him and Tom is that, with Owen, it was all just rumours. I believe it's different now.

So are you're saying that the rumors on Hiddleston are very likely?

For the past few years, Idris Elba has been the biggest name for Bond, just like Clive Owen was after Brosnan. Hiddleston isn't in that category. But sometimes the future Bond everyone talks about gets the role, like Brosnan.

Layer Cake one of my favourite films but at no stage watching it back in 2004 did I consider Craig for the role or when his name was mentioned in the running battle of 2005. My choice was Hugh Jackman and I still think he would make a great Bond today!
  • Does anyone else feel that Craig will come back for one more? I have heard nothing credible to suggest that he is going to leave the role, just a large amount of clickbait speculation and some overblown coverage of comments he made after a long and arduous filming schedule.

    BTW QoS is excellent!

I love QoS, I actually think it's better than SPECTRE, the car chase is probably one of the best ever made. Also - still my favourite when it comes to how James Bond looks in it because his suits were absolutely superior compared to the ones from other Craig era movies.

QOS is the only Craig film I actually don't mind, back on topic heard on some TV/news/ celeb thingy this morning that Craig is only doing the TV series as a one off and not doing a season 2 ect and fuelling speculation that he may be returning as Bond after all!!!
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
More rumours, I've read they are filming two series but back to back, so it can be
    Shown over two seasons ?

If you haven't already, watch QoS now that people have seen Spectre...in my opinion I have come to appreciate QoS more now...the look, the wardrobe, the attitude and bad-assness of Bond...quieter moments....interplay of relationships...it's there.

One website is claiming the new Bond has been found and cast!

31-year old British actor Theo James confirmed as the new Bond

    http://www.theportlygazelle.com/2016/05/29/31-year-old-british-actor-theo-james-confirmed-as-the-new-bond/

I think this is unlikely to be genuine however he's a new name to add to the list of candidates.
  • stagstag Posts: 2,083MI6 Agent
Portlygazelle? Mmm call me cynical but I reckon the news would have broken on MSM before filtering down to this page.

By chance I am planning to watch QoS over the weekend. I've just got to plan it so the wife is out (she refuses to watch Bond) otherwise I am relegated to the from room where I will have to watch it on the small telly.

I've just read Suzanne bier who directed the night manager may be in line to direct bond 25, if so I think she could do an excellent job, night manager looked fabulous, it could also add weight to tom hiddlestons bond crusade!
