Despite the fact he hardly had any use of it but the P.P.K. with the optical palm reader in Skyfall was amazing, no-one else could use it but Bond himself.
Yes, I liked that a lot. BUT.... forget to charge it, and you'd be screwed. :007)
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

    +1 for the Skyfall special...

    * it was a PPK/s so he had more ammo
    * it fired the heavier .380. (9mm short) round
    * the signature grip I could take or leave

But I have an affinity for the PPK/s

I think that's like the inexpensive metal replica I have, which I got for around $75 from eBay (Spain) about 10 years ago or more. What's distinct about it is how the plastic grips wrap around all the way to the rear; I found out it differed from the real PPK because I bought a pair of original, flat grips that say "Walther" on them and realized they were fundamentally different. I originally bought it to have something in my replica shoulder holster that I got from our own Donald Grant. Warning, though, it tarnishes easily, but that's ok in my case since only the butt shows.

As for my "favorite" version of the PPK, anything else but the optical reader/signature device on the SF version, which IMO makes it bulky. Also, what I learned from Raymond Benson's Bedside Companion, is that in the books Bond's PPK had the "spur" seen in Chrisisall's pics above to assist with gripping for the pinky finger, whereas in the movies (at least as far as I noticed in the pre-Craig ones) Bond's PPK has no spur, which IMO looks better and more compact.

That's how much mine was. And like yours the plastic grip does wraps around the rear. I also wanted one that didn't have the finger rest most modern PPK's have. As for my favorite version. I just enjoy the regular classic models but if I was being movie specific i'd go with GoldenEye's PPK.

All PPKs from the start of production came with two magazine, one with finger rest ,one without , they are not modern add ons. Also all PPKs have the wrap around grip ,the PPK/S has the slab sided as they are produced basically as PP frames with PPK barrel and slide for the US market due to federal import requirements from around 1967.

Ahhh, that accounts for my particular (miss)purchase predicament!

Ah I see. I didn't know that. Thanks for that, I've learned something new. :)
