I remember as a boy,my own father bursting into my bedroom, to tell me, I'd go blind !
I had to call out several times " Dad, I'm over here. Your talking to a light stand "
my eye sight is so bad I have to use broille ,im sorry ill just have to feel l that again
Around this time the first bathes of female conscripts are entering the Norwegian military. Unlike when I did my military service, only a fraction of the youth are actually called upon to serve. Still, everyone is called to be physically and mentally screened for service. This is a huge advantage, since this exposes everyone to information about the armed forces and makes them consider entering the military.
Since the military is much smaller now, the armed forces have the luxury of picking the most motivated and best qualified.
Girls born in 1997 on their way to a year in the forces:
Boys and girls share the same sleeping quarters. Strangely, this has been found to de-sexualizing the opposite sex. Watching them bruch their teeth, pick their noses, etc does that after some time:
I'm not sure it will work all the time:
The service will be just as hard for the girls as it has been for the boys:
I think it was only last week that our government passed the bill to allow soldiers of a
female persuasion to serve on active service on the front line of the battlefield.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
They did indeed, I've absolutely no issue with this as long as they can physically cope, ie carry sufficient equipment etc, but that goes for any soldier. I do however worry for any female serviceperson who is captured, what could happen to them at the hands of the taliban or isis doesn't bare thinking about.
I read somewhere that the Norwegian soldier who has killed the most Taliban is female. She served as a top gunner on a storm tank. Having women serve in war makes sense in many ways.
I know one of the big questions always brought up about women serving alongside men.
Is will males take greater risks etc to protect their female colleagues ? As for what that
Scum of ISIS would do to female prisoners, male rape is also an ISIS technique !
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
I may joke about the differences between the sexes but I full agree that women should be
Treated exactly the same as men, in all aspects of life. So I'd fully support women in the
Battle field.
I'm the father of two daughters and would hate to see them unable to reach their full potential
In whichever field of life they take up.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
I think our military's findings about letting them live and sleep in the same rooms are interesting. When I was in the military many of the soldiers would go weeks or months and barely talk to girls. Porn would be a part of that life. In recent years when more young women entered the service the units reasoned that men and women would train together, live in the same tents etc. Why not live in the same rooms if they do everything else together? I think they found that sexual harassment actually went down because of this.
There is much to what she said. I saw an interview with two girls serving on the border of Russia. On the subject of sharing living quarters with boys they said "we have seen everything" and shook their heads in disgust. I think they were thinking of health (or lack of) habits )
They also made food and ate food together, saw TV together ("we're sick of Top Gear!") I think this kind of co-habitation can be healthy.
My wife said ," when the girls get to see how unhygienic, smelly and always scratching their bits the boys
Are. Their image of these romantic teen pinups will soon come crashing down !"
I wonder if living with Me, has effected her views ?

)
I think they for some reason would like to see Gosip Girl, Sex and the City etc.
When I was in the army I attended the christian soldiers union. I know you don't approw of that sort of behavior , but I also met local girls there. I think it was good for me not to be totally cut off from females at that time of my life.
I also think hunting, living outdoors and so on is more common in Norway then it is in many other countries.
There is also a different culture a slightly different culture in the military in Norway. I saw a documentary about the fallskjermjegers (a special forces unit focusing on long range reccon).
I noticed how informal and quiet the offiser were. They talked to the rereuits instead of shouting. There was litle of that macho postureing we often see in the movies (especiallly Hollywood) and I suspect is often used in real life too. the tonewas more "not good enough - do it again."
Interesting, I think most special forces have a more relaxed attitude. As by that stage you
Would have already proven you were capable. Although this is only from books, I'm an
Armchair general.
I have to assume the macho shouting at recruits does work, otherwise, I guess they'd stop
Using it ?

It works, so does having a 19 stone Sergeant standing on your wrists while the Co is beasting you
I've only seen trainspotting once and not all of it , I found the scene of the Dead Baby, too upsetting.
I couldn't get the image out of my head for days. Funny how you can watch hundreds of horror films
yet a drama about drug taking can have such an effect.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
Have a bad feeling about Trainspotting 2. One of those "right place at the right time" so leave it well alone kind of things. The soundtrack is pretty special to me as reminds me of leaving home at 16 for college / uni etc and was a huge part of the film itself. New Order / Underworld / Eno / Britpop
Yeah the dead baby scene is pretty disturbing (and poss worse when the baby revisits during the cold turkey scene in a "The Shining" type way). My Mrs wont watch it due to that. I guess such horror has occured with extreme drug use many a time, and it is here in the film bared and all.
Will be good to see Francis Begbie though - RC's acting for his character was superb!!!!! Highlight of the film is all his scenes, hilarious dark comedy if you like that thing. We have all known similar psychos or seen them!!
Bladerunner seems to be gathering an amazing cast I just hope the hype doesn't
build up our hopes so much, that the film can't live up to our expectations.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
Didnt see prometheus, bladerunner was a favourite of mine, so ahead of its time and quite startling in places. I'm hoping for a decent sequel. Harrison Ford is on something of a role at the moment, lm keeping my fingers crossed he doesn't revisit Indiana Jones. Still can't bring myself to watch crystal skull.
Prometheus gets a bad rap but I still enjoyed it due to some great moments
That's what I feared! I was scared of destroying my childhood love of Indy, running round the local woods with a home made whip, an old trilby on pretending I was being chased by a giant boulders is a happy place, so I'll leave indy riding off accross the desert with his dad and Marcus.
Agreed on the crystal skull, and I though Prometheus was ok. the only bit
I found silly, was a woman not knowing to run to the side, to avoid a falling object !

Wish I had done the same
