The DB10 was just another part of the film that was massively hyped up and rightfully so. Of course the only screen time it really got was in one of the most forgettable and boring chases in the series.
Totally disagree! The I loved the car chase, Bond racing through the streets while talking with Moneypenny and trying to figure out the gadgets.

You're seriously in the minority here... It's no match for the Quantum of Solace car chase for instance (which in my opinion is one of the best ever made because it showed the Aston's DBS brutal power and great engine sound, it's also far more dynamic). The SPECTRE chase was just boring, the tension was weak and the Fiat 500 scene just killed it for me completely (very Moorish moment and I'm not the biggest Moore fan). What's even worse is that they built both cars especially for the movie so it's a missed oportunity, a huge one.

I'm a huge Moore fan and I thought the Spectre chase had none of the brilliance of all of Moore's car chases. But Craig also cannot pull off the things that Moore could pull off. The Quantum of Solace car chase is terrible as well. The choppy editing just ruined the whole scene because I have no idea what's going on. The dynamic aspect of the scene is lost since it's all just a blur. I know they tried to copy Bourne, but nothing in the Bourne films is like that.

I know many people here love the QoS chase but I am not keen due to the editing either, I'm sure the content would be terrific if it had been done differently. The sounds though is superb as is the chase itself / scene, I just find it far too quick

I have to disagree about the QOS car chase. It's one instance in that film where the editing style used was effective. The way it was shot put you in that chase, like you were trapped in a blender or a roller coaster ride. There was also a brutality to the QOS chase that reflected the more realistic tone set in CR. It is also one of the few times in a movie car chase that the Police get involved unlike so many others where law enforcement are bizarrely absent.

Absolutely agree with you on this one. Like most I detest the rapid fire editing of QOS but in my opinion it was highly effective during the car chase. It made it more visceral, brutal and break-neck and it was easier to follow for me then any of the other action scenes.

I don't feel like I'm put into the chase at all. If it were always from Bond's perspective, then I'd feel like I'm there. But instead we see quick clips from all over the place, and because I can't get any idea of what is going on, that takes me out of the chase. I actually felt more like I was in the chase in Spectre.

Great Chase in QOS but we seem to be getting off topic.

If we must discuss cars, then there is the question of what car would best suit the next Bond. It's posted earlier on this thread by me, a picture of TH with a rather handsome E Type. I could accept that as the new Bonds personal car. But he would have to drive an Aston at work. The DB11 is quite nice

Indeed it does ! -{. He could be pretty Swift in that car. ;)

    Love QoS - love the car chase...and I genuinely believe the editing works in the films favour -{

I guess the topic is pretty much getting derailed because there's nothing, not even rumors being reported with regards to either a new Bond or Craig returning or not. The last big story was that Craig's schedule as it now stands would allow him to be available for Bond 25 if it has a fall 2018 release date. Pretty much, that's it. I can't even think of any other names to throw out as possible Craig successors. Even stuff reported on the net is just regurgitated old silliness involving Idris Elba. It's really radio silence...or Craig is absolutely not coming back, the role has been cast, and EON is just waiting for the right time to make an official announcement (which I'm guessing won't be until early 2017).

Wasn't today the day DC starts filming Lucky Logan?

I think so. It was interesting that the Showtime CEO involved with Purity commented on Craig hypothetically being available for Bond and why he would even bring that up. I wonder if "a Bond clause" (ie there would be a hiatus in filming to allow Craig to do Bond 25 if he so chose) was part of his contract to do Purity? I guess I'm reaching here, but one never knows. I would think that if Craig was actually returning, EON would not delay announcing it.

The Fiat 500 was built especially for Spectre? Didn't realize that! 8-)

Agreed. I love QoS, including that chase and the excellent accompanying music.

I agree, car chase in QoS much better than Spectre. Apart from the roof walk at the beginning I found Spectre to be a let down. I still hope Daniel Craig returns for one more though.
    Yes. Considerably!

As a jaguar driver myself (and yes, it's true what they say about Jaaag drivers), I love seeing them in the Bond films but I really would like Bond to drive one to bring out the inner cad

This probably means that Craig is going to have to attempt an American accent again. Yikes!
  • HowardBHowardB USAPosts: 2,744MI6 Agent
Lucky Logan is a heist film directed by Steven Soderbergh. From what I have read, Craig has more of a supporting but important role, possibly a detective? Channing Tatum and Michael Shannon are the robbers. Craig doesn't do too bad with an American Southern accent. He did a pretty good job of it in the Truman Capote film he was in and he was passable in Cowboys and Aliens.

35 days shoot is impressive! Maybe EON should knock out 5 Bond films a year :))

Soderbergh's sort of famous for working fast. He shot "Sex, Lies and Videotape" in 35 days and "Candelabra" in 30 days.

I thought his accent was all over the place in "Cowboys and Aliens."

I agree. He should have just done what Roger Moore did in Maverick and make up an excuse for the British accent. None of the Bond actors have been good at accents.

Maybe he'll be better now. Eva Green's English accent in Penny Dreadful is better than it was in CR.
