Something some of us can relate with… Before falling asleep every night James Bond lies there wondering, albeit modestly how someone as multi-talented as himself had failed making subtle yet key decisions in life to miss his true calling. What that calling might be is a complete mystery, except that his “now” is not it. If serendipity and fate had somehow found him in that profession, he would know it. “All these meaningless roles and dead end jobs…and mother might have made it worse had I given in to her meddling before the war to have me work for that stuffy admiral…yawn.”)

A life of crime with a dash of Robin Hood is definitely a likely scenario.
So we both picture Bond as Simon Templar?
That makes three of us. The more I think about it, the more interesting and fun and I think it would be to see a fanfic or limited run comic or something where James Bond never joins the service and ends up a dashing thief and con man. He could still run into classic villains (maybe even pull off a heist or two for Goldfinger, only to work against him later), drive an Aston Martin, and wear even flashier suits. Seriously, I might have to start working on this fan fic right away

By sheer, daily exposure to alcoholic drinks throughout his adult life via restaurants, bars and clubs that are the best that London and the world has to offer, along with businesses that supply his liquor for home consumption, I think Bond knows how to make the most common cocktails, including whatever the "perfect" martini is supposed to be. The variations and derivatives of the Martini that he drinks are just what he prefers.

I can't really imagine Bond doing anything else, but I do think he would be the same sort of person, popular with the ladies, lover of finer things, highly intelligent and educated etc.

There is a well known documented case of a former SAS operative Frank Collins who wrote a book, "Baptism of Fire".
He became a vicar of St Peters with St Owens, and St James in Hereford.
He was also padre to 23 SAS and also Chaplain of the Parachute Regiment.
He committed suicide aged 41.

I do remember reading it in the paper at the time, and thinking what a sad end to such a brave man.
