AVTAK - it's pretty shady in some respects, but it puts a smile on my face. Following the brilliant defeat of Zorin. "That's not the soap" is one of the funniest lines in Bond.
Definitely an honourable mention for me. I guess the score playing over the final scene really makes me sad to see Roger Moore go, but also happy because at least he seemed very happy when AVTAK ended. There are those senses in only a few of the Bond films where you feel like "hey, this hard as villain is finally defeated after all this" and you feel a strong sense of relief and happiness. For that, I nominate:

    FRWL
    AVTAK &
    LTK

I'd also nominate the brilliant scene in Russia (apartment) with the Canadian agent/M from QoS. Different to all others, and so well acted.

Completely agree with your point about the AVTAK theme being played in that final scene and Roger's sign-off. Just great stuff.
I was going to mention qos, that ending sticks with me, also like cr with the resurgent bond theme, the three piece suit great stuff.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

While not my favourite, strangely enough I quite liked Skyfall's final scene with M and Bond in the room. I think it brought back memories of the traditional films, with that door and M's office, which is remarkably similar to the 60's films (yes I compared them).
I agree great end to a Bond film

    Mr. White answers his phone

    "Hello?"

"Mr. White, we need to talk."

    "Who is this?"

A bullet takes out Mr. White's leg out from under him. He crawls up the steps in great pain. A figure casually strolls up next to him. The camera pans up to reveal...

    "The name's Bond. James Bond."

No denying the greatness of that.

Plenty of contenders for this crown.
OHMSS, TLD and CR are all awesome but my vote goes to QOS. That final scene in Russia is perfectly acted and very satisfying.

Dr No- There is a sense of danger as Bond tries to find Honey and Crab Key is seconds away to being blown to smithereens! Love the scene with everyone trying desperately to find a boat (and the cameo frome Chris Blackwell) and some aren't so lucky. The base blows and Bond And Honey are left stranded in the sea, when the boat runs out of petrol. Bond kills time, by making out with Honey, just as Leiter arrives with marines.

Bond letting go of the rope was a stupid move. Wonder how they made it back to shore.

I like how quite a few Bond films have this same ending: YOLT, TMWTGG, TSWLM, MR. All involve Bond escaping from the villain's exploding lair. I wish that would come back. I think DN did it the best, because of what you describe.

Indeed, very slow boat to England there.
