Coolest Brosnan Moments

James SuzukiJames Suzuki New ZealandPosts: 2,406MI6 Agent
Forgive me if there is a similiar thread, I went hunting on the search engine and couldn't find anything quite like this.
What are your favourite Brosnan Moments throughout his 4 movies?
I love the moment in Goldeneye, near the end, when a whole lot of soldiers are shooting at him and he's only slightly moving his head like they're mosquitos or flies.
-In TND, at Carver's Media event, when Brosnan is taking out a handful of heavies, he picks up, what I think is an ash tray, and how he taps it against his hand for a few moments before he knocks the guard out with it. (Such a rad scene).

Any other moment's spring out in your mind?

    1. Goldeneye, speaking French on arrival at the casino.
    2. The fight on the boat in Goldeneye when he sees the reflection of the heavy in the metal thing, turns around, whack.
    3. TND - when he over the top smiles in the back seat of the BMW when the tyres inflate again.
    4. TWINE - "hidden assets"
    5. TWINE - back of the Yak and kicks Davidoff in the face.
    6. TWINE - (dark) shooting Elektra.
    7. TWINE - "Is that a Christmas joke?" "From me? No. Never."
    8. DAD - Saved by the bell (bit lame but cool).
    9. DAD - "I'm checking out!"
    10. DAD - walking into the hotel in Hong Kong.

He had plenty of cool moments, but he also had quite a few moments that were lame and just for effect.

TND - 'Me too!' as he shoots Dr Kauffman.
TND - Sitting there drinking vodka waiting with his suppressed PPK to be killed.
GE - As previously stated, the annoying rounds zipping past his head as he is arming the limpets.

    9. DAD - "I'm checking out!"
    10. DAD - walking into the hotel in Hong Kong.
Those Die Another Day moments are really cool, Like when he grabs a grape from the clinic in Cuba. Really love the bit in TWINE in the mine when he's hanging on those chains and yells 'close the blast-doors"

I agree- I'd never claim it to be the best Bond movie (or even the best Brosnan Bond) but there's plenty to enjoy there. I've said it before, but though DAD has its faults Brosnan isn't among them.

I'd go as far as to say that the strongest aspect, of the only Bond film I struggle to watch, is Brosnan himself. I mean not only does he play it well, but he looks the business in that film.

Brosnan does carry the film, no doubt about that. From start to finish, he's the only consistent element.

TND's when Bond is duel wielding a silenced P99 and MP5K and then wheels around this massive rocket launcher as the Bond guitar blasts, one of my all time favorite Bond moments ever.

My favorite is from TND in the scene when Bond is about to exit the Carver Building and he's looking a bit alert as he walks with urgency right before gunfire erupts and shatters glass near him...this is carried over as he's walking again with urgency in front of the Atlantic Hotel and he's constantly looking behind and around him. Why do I love these? Read my signature!

P.S. My fellow-Bond fan radar lights up suddenly for some reason when the baddies' sedans pull up in front of the Hotel.

Truly iconic Bond moment. I seem to recall a similar scene filmed with Dalton but not used. Now that I would like to see.

Brozzer has some great moments. That really cool move with the Tie at the Casino in TWINE and the whole scene with Cigar girl and the banker. Writing this I feel, that this kind of moment has not much featured in the Craig era which is a shame as he could have really rocked that kind of thing.

You cant beat "they feast" from DAD ,it kills me every time , that sly lick of the lips to clear awat a touch of cigar debris ,the mojito in one hand ,and Brosnans glint in his eye ,as if to say im going to (well we all know what he is thinking) :D I love it , :) :)
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

Wow, great choice! (but is that "further" or "farther" ? )

    Mine would be:

    GE:

Knowing how to drive a tank.

    TND:

Baiting Elliot by saying "I'd be lost at sea…adrift." etc is one of my favorite Bond vs Villain interactions. I like it better than Connery's "Spectre of defeat" and Moore's "a fellow sportsman"

    "They'll print anything these days"

    TWINE:

Adjusting tie underwater. Silly, but fun.

Deadpan humor of "I don't know any doctor jokes" in a Russian accent that makes Denise crack a little smile.

Killing Davidov, throwing him in a dumpster, and then taking his identity.

The action packed "Bond……James Bond" to Denise as they escape from the missile silo.

Using the x-ray glasses at the party is not only a creative bit of filmmaking, but a reminder of how cool 007 is with his gadgets.

    DAD:

Putting the thug in a wheel chair and then rolling him into a wall to create a distraction.

"Saved by the bell" is such a perfect one-liner.

Thanking the nurse for the kiss of life and then escapes. I like the smile she gives him too.
    My current 10 favorite:

    1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK

Agreed. Brosnan had many cool moments as Bond but he made sitting in a chair, drinking vodka look so cool.
He also managed to get through the craziness of DAD and arrive at the end of the film still being cool. Now that is what I call cool :))

    GoldenEye

Bungee jumping all the while hiding his face until he drops into the stall.

Bursting through the wall in the tank, plus the whole chase.

Giving us (well me for me anyway, if there was anything in the books on this I wouldn't know about it) the first real tidbit on Bond's past from Alec in the Statue Park.

    Tomorrow Never Dies

Bond's laugh when he re-inflates the tires in the garage chase.

    The World is not Enough

Boat Chase, always has time to adjust his tie! He did in the tank chase in GE, too.

In the mine when Renard is grilling Bond, you can see the anger growing on Bond's face until he snaps. I've always loved that scene.

Despite whatever anger he may still have towards Bond, Valentin freed him from the torture chair.

    Die Another Day

    All of the anniversary nods.

    Sword fight!

    Some moments:

    - He does the best gun barrel. Real confident walk and great turn.
    - Killing Kaufman
    - The look he gave the Bilbao banker after killing him: cold as ice
    - Fixing his tie in Goldeneye tank chase and boat chase in TWINE
    - The killing of Electra. Again, cold as ice.
    - The escape from Hamburg office, including dialing in the digits with his gun. Nice touch!
    - Walking into the Hong Kong hotel like he owns the place
    - His first delivery of Bond, James Bond in Goldeneye.

Brozza ruled. Pity the material wasn't always that great.

A lot of them seem so staged and forced as to be unnatural -- the whole exchange with the guard before stealing the jet in TND, for instance -- so to me, Brosnan's best "cool" moments are the ones that are brief and more natural. What comes to mind from each film are:

    - Telling Onatopp "No, no, no" in GE.
    - His glee while controlling the car during the parking garage chase in TND.
    - His quip to the cigar girl -- and her obvious displeasure at it in TWINE.
    - The bit where he becomes angrily determined during the sword fight in DND.

I'm personally a fan of his vodka shot-fueled introspection in TND, before Paris shows up.

    It's a nice moment.
