By the way: Bond's inspiration for his Morocco look? :v

:)) never noticed that! But wait, where then did he get the inspiration for the boots?...

    IMG_9284.jpg

Seems like Bond gets his fashion inspiration from flashbacks of his "past lives". Makes sense that what the villains wear might stick in his mind. But, it begs the question: how come he hasn't started dressing like his ladies friends yet? :p

Has anyone been surprised that we haven't got a good knockoff of the Vuarnet Glacier Glasses? Cheap sunglasses are so easy to make and you would have thought someone would have gone the replica route.

I have a pair from getting in early as soon as ID before prices got too silly

Looking at eBay they seem to be struggling to sell so maybe demand not high due to wearability

In honesty I dont think anybody would really wear them much or at all. mine are more for the collection really

You can also try Vintage Sunglass Shop. They usually carry some old new stock options:

    http://www.vintagesunglassesshop.com/search_template_google.html?q=Vuarnet%20PX5000

Just FYI: Prices there can quickly reach $500 for SA models.

The alternatives have a traditional Aviator bridge.

What's funny is that I live in a place (the US state of Maine) where I'd use this model regularly. The glare this morning was horrific.

Not really, like the Dents driving gloves its an item that not many people would use.

Was thinking the same thing this morning. I live in Minnesota and people who don't live in a snowy climate forget how bright things can get while driving...

I actually own a pair of Vuarnet glacier glasses (but in blue and Aviator style) and they are indeed very very dark. The lenses are really only suitable for the brightest snowy days. I don't wear them often.

But I did expect to see some cheap knockoffs of the SPECTRE glasses -- or better yet, the new and improved Vuarnets -- because isn't there always a market for cheap knockoffs?

    Maybe not.

Years ago I had a pair of cebe glasses that I only ever wore while on skiing holidays, I've searched high and low for them but can't find them anywhere, and as I don't go skiing anymore I'm thinking Mrs coop has eBayed them! :#

Yeah I was aware that they'd brought out a second model; I'd sent my second pair back as the pointer finger was 'touchscreen' friendly!

Kept my original pair though and they've had good wear so far :)

Anybody else notice ever since Spectre that tie bar shirts are practically everywhere now? Two examples being Bruce Wayne wore them throughout Batman V Superman and more recently Ryan Gosling wore them in La La Land.

I have seen them in more places, but collar bars and pins haven't quite come back to 1980s levels yet.

YES! In fact, I couldn't help but think how much Sam Mendes's Bond films influenced Snyder's first take on Batman.... some of the cinematography of Wayne Manor just screamed Skyfall, especially with the way it holds all of Bruce's memories.
    Yes. Consssssiderably.

Funny how that happens, seeing how much the Dark Knight influenced Skyfall.

It's quite the neverending cycle, as Nolan seems to pay tribute to Thunderball with the Hong Kong escape from Dark Knight, and the Bane escape in The Dark Knight Rises from License to Kill's PTS, and of course the skiing\snow fortress from Inception from OHMSS. My theory is still on Nolan directing the first Bond movie after Craig moves on, helping pack butts in seats, make sure it's an awesome movie for the new Bond so he can get a warm reception, etc.

And on the topic of Ryan Gosling, he was wearing a very Connery 3 piece suit at what I believe is the La La Land premiere......

    Ryan-Gosling.jpg

That pic is from this article, if anyone is interested.

Not too many thinks about Bond!

So just for your information, James Bond was not the first British Spy to wear an OMEGA watch!
T.E Lawrence ( Lawrence Of Arabia) was wearing an OMEGA when in Arabia.
It's now at the Omega's Museum.
    Day2_051.jpg B-)

I know it's a little of topic, but I found it interesting !

Chris like I said we must be living a parallel universe! Kinda freaky though but I guess with such similar interests like Bond and watches the odds reduce - still weird though. I tried OEM rubber with deployment for my PO but my OCD kicked in with the clasp not being central, but I have skinny wrists. Hope yours is OK. Both my 8500's go in this week for the dial and bezel swap. Finally the black faced TI will be in the house in a few weeks

    Cheers :007)
