Re: Sherlock News

It's grumpy old git syndrome for me, Barbel, I find I have less patience in watching TV and movies nowadays, if they don't strike a chord in me quickly then I just give up.

Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

Stories. Our hero has to learn an emotional lesson, many
TV shows and films suffer from it.

Re: Sherlock News

As I said before...I've really enjoyed these last two episodes...I wonder if expectations were artificially raised as it's been a year since the last episodes...and you know tv programmes seldom live up to the hype ?

I too have enjoyed them the last one I thought was
Really good, although I'm watching with a little sadness
As I think this is the end of the show.

Re: Sherlock News

I would be interested to know if the viewing figures are up, down or stable compared to previous series. Most of the people I have spoken to have lost interest in it now.

The viewing figures are down as to when the show goes out 'live'...I don't believe 'catch-up' figures are in yet...
I think this is the first time I've watched the series as it's transmitted, I normally record them and then watch them over a couple of days...

Re: Sherlock News

My complaint about the entire Sherlock program is that every episode seems to be about 15-30 minutes too long: once it looks like something is over they keep adding on and adding on.  Of course, there was a great "reveal" at the end of the last episode, but I still feel that 20 minutes could have been cut out.  My "grumpy old git" addition to this conversation.

I thought the whole bit about Sherlock being in the boot of an Aston Martin was a nod to QOS.

The Final Problem- first episode this series that I've really enjoyed, and am looking forward to re-watching.

8 songs done, 3 in various stages of disarray for next album!

Re: Sherlock News

I liked it--the first episode in a while to really justify the 90-minute length, and it had some enjoyable twists and turns.  Solidarity, Brother Barbel!

Totally, HB!  ajb007/cheers
Sir Miles, it's odd that you liked the first two of this series and disliked the third, while I felt the opposite. (Of course, "dislike" is relative- any episode of the series is worth watching IMHO)

I thought "Problem" brought everything together nicely and set us up for a stand-alone adventure that doesn't dig into anyone's past and bring up unnecessary longlost siblings, something which I'd really enjoy. You know, just like the end of "Skyfall".  ajb007/lol

I thought that was odd as well - well, not odd - but I did enjoy the first two FAR more...I thought this was SO far removed from Holmes that it made little sense...it smacked too much of "look how CLEVER we are" that it forgot to actually include any narrative...it's not totally without charm or interest, I just found it 'meh'...at least Gatiss got to play out all his Bond fantasies  ajb007/lol
A massive let down in an otherwise excellent series...such a pity they had to end on that...

Anyone else notice the Dr No similarities in the island cells and the tasks?

I thought it was more like that lousy Scorsese film where Leo DeCaprio goes to the Island of Lunatics.  But this was better.

Re: Sherlock News

A bit of a let down after the excellent Toby Jones/Jimmy Saville-like episode the week before, but still enjoyable nonetheless. Andrew Scott was great as usual despite his limited screen time.

Loads of Bond references and strikes me that Gatiss and Moffatt are going all out for the Bond gig...
