I think maybe it is too soon for you to process due to your relationship.
My fiances father died a few weeks ago and has a kind of similar relationship to you. She had only reconciled with him a year or two ago, he had abandoned her and mother at young age etc. We visited him on his deathbed to say goodbye a few weeks ago and he died a few days later. She also does not know how to take it, obviously sad but it still has not really kicked in yet.

Two days ago I got a call from Germany and I've been informed that my father passed away. We were not very close, we rarely met (like once per two years or something like that) and honestly I don't know what to feel. I can't seem to process that information entirely I guess, I'm 25 years old and on one side nothing changed - he was never with me, he rarely called, we rarely met, he was definitely not raising me, he never helped me or my mother when times were tough etc. On the other side the knowledge that he will never be on my future wedding, never hear that I became a master of law, never see my first child etc is quite hearbreaking. But I'm not crying or something and I don't know if I should feel bad because of that.
Any of you had a tough relationship with your father and experienced his passing without even saying the final goodbye? Sorrry to ask that, only a handful of people know about this so I don't really know who to ask and most of you are much older and wiser then me.
My sincere condolences. My father passed away five years ago yesterday...and although he was very much in my life, our similar personalities created an emotional distance between us, which we never resolved, and was exacerbated by my marriage falling apart less than a year before he passed.
My emotions have overcome me in unexpected moments. If this happens to you, my advice would be to go with it, and let it happen. It's healthy. Try to remember the best things possible.
Meanwhile...at 54, I work hard to try to be in my sons' lives (ages 18 and 21), as I've no idea how long I have (who does?).

I'm very sorry to hear this. The pain may hit you in a day or two, or in a few months. Or the pain may never come. It may come during your future wedding or when you become a master of law. Feel whatever you need to feel now and later because there is no right or wrong way to feel. I think the best thing to do is to talk to people you are close with about it now, and talk with them in person. Since you are uncertain about how you feel, talking it out with someone may help you understand your feelings better. Though I cannot relate to your experience, everyone's experiences are different. Even if someone had a similar experience to you and felt a certain way about it, someone else's feeling have no bearing on the way you should feel. You need to do what is right for you and feel what you feel.

Just read that Miguel Ferrer, son of Jose and an accomplished character actor in his own right, has sadly died aged 61, RIP.
He may be best known to audiences as Bob Morton in Robocop, the executive who took the Robocop programme to "the old man" when Dick Jones' ED 209 developed a fault!

I did. I actually just watched series 4 through 7 last year, after I had watched 1 through 3 a few years back. There were some I hadn't remembered watching. I have The Dick Van Dyke Show on Blu-Ray, and it's great to watch in that format.

RIP Mike Connors, the actor who portrayed private eye Joe Mannix on American TV in the late-'60s/early '70s show Mannix...diagnosed with leukemia just last week, and passed away today aged 91. A good full ride. Mannix was one of the inspirations for my '40s novel character Oscar Jade.

Apparently John Hurt has died at the age of 77. A truly unforgettable actor--from having the creature burst out of his stomach in Alien, to his moving performance as the Elephant Man, to being a father to Hellboy. In some ways, though, I'll always associate him with the first role I saw him in: as the truly demented Caligula in I, Claudius. A flight of angels sing thee to thy rest. . .
RIP John Hurt. Brilliant in many films but I remember him in 'Midnight Express' vividly. Very powerful film at the time and an excellent performance from himself.

That's very sad, his voice always resonated with me from watching watership down as a child. Fantastic in tinker tailor, alien, v for vendetta, 1984 and many more, a true legend.

I heard this morning that Sir John Hurt has passed away. He appeared in many a film that crossed all levels of entertainment that appealed to every body .My favourite films by him are The Elepant man .10 Rillington place, The naked civil servant, midnight express,and not forgetting 1984 (where the saying room 101 ) comes from, A great actor we shall miss him .
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

Sounds like the original film will be hard to beat, then. As it should be. It was filmed in the real house where Christie committed his horrific crimes. It's hard to top that for authenticity.
