    I really do have a super strong passionate and never-ending love for the majesty which is Bill Conti's Score for FYEO. :D
    'A Drive in the country' piece alone makes it such a stand out score. Yes it's old. yes it's cheesy. But I'd have a million FYEO soundtracks to Thomas Newman (Soundtrack is suppose to be forgettable goal which he seemed to have successfully accomplished).
    Runaway is another fantastic track
    So is Cortina.
    And I can't finish this post without mentioning that amazing saxophone in 'take me home.' -{ -{ -{
    Oh and the gunbarrel music is pretty top-notch as well.

    {[] yes! Some people find the soundtrack jarring and would prefer a Barry score to make what's on screen come across as more convincing - I disagree. I believe that Conti's score - which is loud and comes across brightly and amplified - creates a brilliant atmosphere. The greatest example of this is the mood created by Bond's arrival in Cortina and the change in music when he sees the words in the mirror and then the camera pans up to the setting. Brilliant.

    It works! I love Runaway as a music cue. It gets the blood pumping! I also like his version of the Bond theme that is used when Apostis is killed.

    An excellent soundtrack that sometimes doesn't match the shots (think Goodbye Countess) but it could very well be an editing error that hadn't been fixed. Even if I loved TSWLM soundtrack it still is the best non Barry/Arnold soundtrack. Had the SPWLM soundtrack been released to its full then I might've reconsidered.

    I love Arnold's scores - but I agree that Conti (in his own style) manages to capture the Barry jazziness in some respects.

    The FYEO score indeed has more soul than any of Arnold's scores, but I think Arnold's score better capture the Bond feel.

    All you have to do to really hear Barry is listen to "Come in 007, Your Time Is Up". Brilliant usage of the Bond theme (not too busy like TND's score) and great introduction of electric sounds - something that Barry started introducing with AVTAK/TLD.

    Outside of the film, I love Conti's score. It's full of energy. I used to think it matched the film well too. I used to think its lighter tone helped transition audiences from the silliness of Moonraker to FYEO's more serious approach. But after a recent viewing, I found the score in the first half jarring in relation to the onscreen action. I agree with the person who said it changes the film's intended serious tone onto a much sillier one. It becomes better in the second half, though, especially the underwater scenes and the climb to St. Cyrils.

    I find my familiarity of the score outside of the film has made it's integration into the film on subsequent watching improve.

    Interesting how us fans see differently!

    For those who are interested in some of the story behind Bill Conti's score, James Bond Radio have released an interview with Conti on their latest podcast episode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy6YfoxeyaQ

    Was really interesting - thanks for sharing! Interesting how Binder influenced that the first lyrics had to be the title of the film.

    Also very interesting is how many of these legends don't remember some key details or have the same sentiments the fans have. Conti couldn't really remember the tracks or pieces at all :)) would've loved to hear him analyse the Gunbarrel music.

    Hamlisch's interview in the 10/12 part BBC documentary on TSWLM is one of the best.
