The thing that really annoyed me is that i went to all the trouble of getting measured for the jacket, sleeves etc, as i’ve got short arms and regular large jackets always have arms that are too long. And then they just went and sent me a regular small size, which was massive in the chest, tiny around the waist and the arms were too long. Plus, i gotta say, I have no idea what it was made of, but it definitely wasn’t suede. And when i initially emailed to say, there are no zips on the sleeves, they sent an email back saying there was. I just threatened them with Paypal and they were suddenly very accommodating. I’m going to go to Wested at the end of March when the weather is a little warmer. The i can try a few on and know what size to get. it’s only 20 mins on the train for me.

Wested are a long way from the Station. You might need a cab.

Yes i noticed that! Thanks though, i was thinking it would be nice to walk, but when i looked on Google Maps, it seemed quite remote and i might get lost. I'm sure it won't be that much. Thanks man.

Got my refund from the ebay seller. Now it's back to the drawing board. Was going to go to Wested tomorrow to try on a few sizes but they don't have them in stock. Back to the drawing board.

Could you not drop into Wested and get it MTM? I was also thinking of going to them good to know they do not hold stock on site. I bought a menlo from them few years back great jacket but picked a real one up in the end as well so sold it on.

    Cheers :007)

They just don't have it in stock at the moment. I could get it MTM from them yes. I had a Layer Cake from them a few years ago, but i sent it back. Sizing was very wrong. Shame. But it's on the back burner for a month at least. The whole ebay thing put me off for a while. 8-)

I found both suede jackets on Amazon. Both were made of nice suede with proper details and came from Pakistan. Couldn't be happier. I had to have the sleeves on the Morocco jacket shortened slightly. Overall I was impressed for the price

Can you please specify which dealer/store? I was overwhelmed when I looked on Amazon and thoroughly discouraged by the negative reviews of the replica suppliers. I was considering this and was wondering if anyone had feedback:

your link was for a Skyfall jacket. What I got were the 2 suede jackets from SPECTRE. Here are the links to the ones I got.

Mine looked way nicer than the one in the photo. Arrived within a week or so.

I'll have to link the other one later. Amazons order history lookup is acting up right now.

Thanks for your response. I was looking for a replica of the Skyfall jacket and was wondering if anyone had had any experience with this seller.............I appreciate your feedback regarding the Spectre replicas - I have been apprehensive about considering any sellers when they display the authentic piece on which the replica is based online.

I have heard many prominent posters here, like Matt S of Bondsuits.com, warning to stay away from such sellers. Would you consider posting photos of your purchases?

he pictures are of the original JV jacket. Could JBHolster post a picture or two please? I'm also looking for one of these, and my ebay experience was less than satisfactory. It was just an awful jacket which was nothing like the pictures in the auction. Which were the same ones in the Amazon one as well.

Cheers for all your help though.

Yes, smirkingrevenge, I should have cited your unfortunate experience as that sums up my concerns perfectly. It's amazing how many options there are online. Hopefully the members here can steer each other toward the legit options.

I think I could actually size down on the tan one. I just ordered a small to see how it fits. If its too small I'll just send it back. The chart says the small is for 38/40 and med is 41/42. I have a 40 inch chest and 32 inch waist and am in pretty good shape. The med just feels a little loose around the waist and a tad wide in shoulders maybe. The black one is very nice. It is a thinner suede and feels great wearing it. The details on both seem very accurate

Black one looks nice. The zips on the sleeves, do they open to reveal suede inside? or does it just open to sleeve completely? not sure of the actual term. Are the cuffs subtly narrow or is the zip just for decoration? i mean, is it practical?

    Thanks for posting the pictures.

That piece of fabric behind the zipper is called a gusset. {[]

jbholsters would you be able to show some pictures of the gusset on the black jacket so i could see some of the details? Wondering if it has the lace stitching etc.

    cheers

Sorry, just saw this. Yes they have suede gussetts. Just recieved the small sized tan jacket today. Fit is much better for me, as I like it to look more fitted.

Sizing looks good. Shoulder, chest and sleeves are exactly how you want them to be. The only problem I can see is the overall length of the jacket. It seems a tad long; Not too long for a jacket that sits nicely on you, but definitely longer than the Matchless Craig blouson, proportion-wise.
  • jbholstersjbholsters Posts: 179MI6 Agent
Thx. I too think it fits much better. Looks better even than the photo due to camera angle. And yes it is longer than the matchless jacket, but I'm ok with that. Craig's almost looks too short in the film to me. But that's just my opinion.

Thanks for posting the picture of the gusset. That has cemented it for me i think. As much as i would like the Wested jacket, its British after all and could possibly be better quality, it's £50 more and the front zip isn't a double, which is a bit of a shame. But also, if i spent more on it, i might be more careful with it and not wear as much, Suede is a pain if its raining.
  • jbholstersjbholsters Posts: 179MI6 Agent
yeah, if you're wearing suede and it rains, you're in a world of hurt. Glad I could be of help. Both jackets have YKK zips, which are pretty much an industry standard. I would like to note, however that the jackets zip reverse from most mens jackets. At least here in the US. But the zips function normally.
  • smirkingrevengesmirkingrevenge Posts: 150MI6 Agent
one other questions i have, sorry. Are the cuffs on the jacket suitably narrow? as in, are the zips practical or purely for decoration?
  • jbholstersjbholsters Posts: 179MI6 Agent
They don't fit super snug. You can get jacket on and off without unzipping them.
