I don't call them Bond girls, as I want to move away from the view that they're Bond's toys in the same sense his gadgets and martinis are. I'm mainly ranking them by personality, role in story, acting, believability. But looks do help.

1 Vesper Lynd (CR) - The whole package
2 Tracy di Vincenzo (OHMSS) - Complex character
3 Pam Bouvier (LTK) - She's tougher than Bond!
4 Tania Romonova (FRWL) - Good character development
5 Anya Amasova (TSWLM) - Solid acting all around
6 Natalya Simonova (GE) - Smart, and understated
7 Kara Milovy (TLD) - Monogamy has its perks.
8 Camille Montes (QOS) - The anti-Bondgirl
9 Wai Lin (TND) - Bond's action hero counterpart
10 Pussy Galore (GF) - Bad name aside, very good.
11 Jinx Johnson (DAD) - Sexy and fun all around. Halle <3
12 Domino Duvale (TB) - Decent revenge-seeker girl.
13 Melina Havelock (FYEO) - Not unlike Domino
14 Solitaire (LALD) - Good acting, but why her virginity?
15 Honey Ryder (DN) - Iconic but kinda jail-baity
16 Aki (YOLT) - Pretty good but short lived unfortunately.
17 Octopussy (OP) - She's Moore's age but kinda boring.
18 Holly Goodhead (MR) - She's a doctor, but kinda boring.
19 Christmas Jones (TWINE) - Overhated but still unconvincing.
20 Mary Goodnight (MWGG) - Dumb bikini ditz ; little personality.
21 Tiffany Case (DAF) - Dumb bikini ditz ; no personality
22 Stacey Sutton (AVTAK) - Way too young. Ditzy for a geologist.
23 Severine (SF) - A punching-bag for the misogynist characters.

I certainly agree with your top three, and I'm glad to see you rank Natalya Simonova so high. But she's no "plain-Jane" in my book! ;)

Plain Jane was the wrong phrase to use. I should have used understated. She's more mature. And with maturity is subtlety. She doesn't need to be in-your-face or over-the-top. Because she's the kind of woman a mature gentleman would date.

    1. Natalya
    2. Wai Lin
    3. Octopussy
    4. Pam
    5. Aki
    6. Tiffany
    7. Melina
    8. Xenia
    9. Pussy Galore
    10. May Day

I counted two villains, as I honestly don't think much of many of the Bond women. After rewatching LTK, I definitely like Pam more, as she doesn't get caught at any point and actually helps Bond. May Day I think is a pretty good villain, and is one of the better bad to good transitions I've seen in a character.

Thanks for the clarification. I agree 100%. {[]

The Bond girl, a constant pleasure of the Bond universe. -{ Surprised this thread hasn't gotten more love actually, but then again, it's actually not often that I've heard many Bond fans discuss their favourite leading ladies!

Anyways, here are my favourites. I include heroines and femme fatales alike.

    1. Tracey (OHMSS) - Definitely one of the strongest performances by an actress in the series, done by one of the best actresses to be in a Bond film. Brilliant character who had a vital and poignant part in the story.

    2. Solitaire (Live and Let Die) - Probably the Bond girl that I find the most attractive. She's gorgeous. Yes... I think I'm done :))

    3. Pussy Galore (Goldfinger) - Love this character, great performance, solid banter between Bond. Shame about the sexual assault part. Sean you devil.

    4. Vesper Lynd (Casino Royale) - The second strongest character behind Tracey. Also has incredible significance to the story and a wonderful performance by Eva Green.

    5. Domino (Thunderball) - Probably more based on looks, but Bond girls are pure fantasy and she is one of the most attractive. Having said that though, she is a thoroughly intriquing character and she gets bonus points for killing the villain.

    6. Fiona Volpe (Thunderball) - My goodness gracious me.

    7. Anya (The Spy Who Loved Me) - Great character, literally Bond's Russian counterpart. Would be higher if Barbara Bach's performacne wasn't a tad wooden.

    8. Natalya (Goldeneye) - Great character. Vulnerable but resilent and resourceful without having to be a super spy character like Wai Lin or Jinx. Plus she's also one of the most beautiful of the Bond girls.

    9. Camille (Quantum of Solace) - Despite the short comings of the script, I felt that this character was relatively well developed and I thought she was fantastic. She wasn't even a romance for Bond yet she had a strong connection with him and added alot of emotional depth to the film. Stunning to boot.

10.Electra King (The World Is Not Enough) - Breathtakingly beautiful woman. My vote for one of the most 2 or 3 attractive women to have played a leading role in a Bond film. More importantly though, is that she is also a great character. Easily one of the strong points of the film. She's incredibly alluring as well as a convincingly wounded and somewhat twisted villain.

    11. Xenia (Goldeneye) - Has to be on here. Simply outrageous character, and a fantastic, over the top performance by Famke Jenssen.

    12. Octopussy - A highly mysterious and intriguing character, and a great performance by Maud Adams. I think she is definitely the actress that had the most chemistry with Moore.

    Honourable mentions
    - Melina (For Your Eyes Only) Great, independent and resourceful character. However a tad sullen.

    - Pam Bouvier (Licence To Kill) Incredibly likable, plucky character and she looks stunning in the latter half of the film.

    Dishonourable mentions

    - Rosie Carver (Live and Let Die) - Incredibly annoying character

    - Jinx (Die Another Day) - Honestly, spare me.

End note: Never got the Honey Ryder love. Obviously she's very beautiful, but her character just never did it for me at all.
