Bond Girl Style Watercooler

So, us Bond women (namely Lexi and I :))) thought it was our right to have a gossipy girl space to talk about the style, fashion, makeup and all the like of Bond girls. You guys even discuss Bond guns, so why can't we discuss Bond girl shoes?? And this is the place for it! What are our favourite styles on Bond girls? Who was that cutest little dress from? I want the shoes xxxx had at all costs! :))

I will immediately start by saying that looks- and style-wise (makeup, hair, clothes etc) my absolute favourite is Pam Bouvier. Her nemesis Lupe coming second :)) This as far as "modern" times are concerned. If we go back to my beloved 60s style, well then different story. :D

I particularly enjoyed the Pam Bouvier restyling during LTK, how her hair/makeup was changed (damn, that was effective!) from curly long schoolgirl style to perfectly styled sleek and short high-class style. Same applies to the clothing. Loved the long dress that she just "cut" to short via zipper in the elevator. Sexy and effective! :D And I never found out who the dress was from :( Would love to know though, as I'd be curious to know if the dress was from my "usual suspects" list of favourite stylists. :))

    Hey..well done Alessandra. {[]

I loved the dress restyle with the zipper...very effective, as for trying to hunt that down, well I'm sure we can!

I really love the dress Solange wore in CR (the red one) very beautiful and the lacing up at the back was stunning. I might just have to see if i can find what it was. :v

OHHHHH I agree that was nice. Solange's dress I mean. I think that may be easier to track down since it was from the last movie?? let me see what I can dig up on that one. Imagine, something getting between a woman and finding a dress.. Impossible!! :v

    To answer my own question:
Murino said she wasn't prepared for the emphasis placed on her outfits in the film (which include a red silk Jenny Packham dress worn with yellow diamond earrings, and a mint La Perla bikini). Apparently these dresses have been really in demand...although i would imagine very £££ (now I can appreciate the boys woes in the collecting forum!)

while I'm really not the type of girl (Tomboy since the age of six) to covet dresses and lust after shoes and makeup, I will agree that Pam Bouvier's purple zippy dress is my all time favorite. It could be that it's extreamly sparkly, but she does look really pretty in it. As for things I'd actually wear, it'd be somehing like Christmas Jones' outfit when Bond first meets her (sans the radioactive protection suit), but with a longer shirt.

:)) I actually own quite a few La Perla bikinis (And underwear garments, since La Perla is THE BEST when that is concerned) and after all they aren't all that more expensive than the famous swimsuit brands... and they last years and years. So in the end they may cost more when you buy them, but you recoup all of the money you spend in quality and in "endurance". Perfect for the Bond girl life! :))

Anyway the designer of Murino's dress is Jenny Packham, and apparently as per this article, it has quickly become a best seller. She isn't a very famous stylist, so I'm guessing it wouldn't come at an impossible price!

There's a photo too but I'm not sure whether it's copyrighted or not? So to be on the safe side, I won't post it :))

Hi Pendragon, nice to see another Bond girl fan around! :D And glad we agree on Pam Bouvier and her dress.. I do think that was one of the best style moves for Bond girl in movies ever! Actually, I should tell my taylor to replicate that dress... very convenient for dancing the night away at black tie events... and when it gets hot? Zip it short! :)) :)) :))

Well minus the radioactive protection suit, it totally loses its character! :)) :)) I'm kidding :)) I would DEFINITELY wear that Pam Bouvier dress, and both Murino's swimsuit AND dress.. I am VERY much into fashion and like to dress up, like every Italian woman. Basically a shop owner's dream. Too bad for my credit card :)) :))

I have very good memories tied to LTK so it will always be one of my special Bond movies :x And it was the first one I went to see by myself (with a friend) at the movies, so of course it holds a special place in my heart. :D I agree style-wise it was definitely a great Bond movie.. not just the clothing but the settings and the way both Dalton and Carey Lowell as well as Talisa Soto carried themselves. All very stylish, elegant people. I loved Talisa Soto's white dress in the movie too.. and a couple of her "everyday" outfits as well. And those incredibly cute sandals she had when she pretended her bag dropped. Ahhhhh good times with the Bond style!! :D

As far as the credit card, the good times come and go, and then hopefully we get to a stage in our life when the good times come and stay, and the credit card gets exercise exactly to buy us the Bond Girl stylish things! :)) :))

The purple beaded gown Pam wears in the Elevator and the Casino was made by the costume designer of LTK Jodie Tillen of faceted beads. No zipper was used to shorten the dress. It was done by creating a lot of ridges which became part of the design of the dress.

Lupe's red lace dress in the Casino sequence was by Oscar De La Renta. It was adapted for Talisa Soto by the costume designer Jodie Tillen.
Alessandra, I hope this helps. The info was in The Making of Licence to Kill by Sally Hibbin.

    Hey Bondtoys! :D

We really don't want to just talk about memorabilia here.. we're talking about Bond Girl style in general and we may get talking about CR and QoS as well.. it's not just about the mere objects, it's about style for Bond girls in general and girl gossip. Which of course also includes the clothes in past movies. But we aren't looking to find those or stuff like it, we're curious and we're mostly discussing the style, not only the object itself for collector item purposes. And gossip of course about shoes and clothes and style! Definitely not something that would fit in memorabilia, gossip is something else! :)) :))

Or wait.. you meant THIS specific discussion, not the entire thread right?? Duh... It's too late for me to post, I need sleep :)) :))

SpectreIsland you're a sweetheart!! Yes the info does help! I knew about Oscar de La Renta and the red dress... but I preferred the white one though :D And well, to take off that part of the Pam Bouvier dress and the layers, she must have had a zipper or velcro, or the dress wouldn't have held up together??I'm talking from a taylor's point of view here.. you can't walk around with something in multiple layers with a layer that isn't sewn or "velcroed" or "zipped in", especially not at the bottom! It would just not hold together?? Or maybe I didn't grasp the exact concept the dress designer said?? Which could be, since it's late here :)) :))

    Hello Alessandra,

oh, I had no intention to bother your style talking actually, I became scared by reading it. Must be a reflex like, when my wife walks into a shoe store.

By the way, I have just realized, that she registered on AJB007 and wonder, why this scrares me even more. I am prepared for something serious to happen. {:)

If you don't want to do more than talking about 007 girls style, ok, but when the question comes up, who made what and how, the memorabilia & collection section will be better IMO as we have quite some experts there.

Just trying to be helpful :#
And I am now off the talk. I have the feeling, that this should be kept to the right people.. :D

Wow, I spent an age hunting on the net to try and find this out..well done and thanks!

Bondtoys, thanks for your suggestion, it's just well, I can't really imagine the response we would get if we posted a thread about "which shoes did Vesper wear....?" in the mem and collecting forum...I totally understand where your comming from, but just didn't think the boys would appreciate the hijack! However, if we do get stumped...get ready for us!

    yep, me! here it is:

The famous bikini worn by Halle Berry (Jinx) in the Die Another Day.
A recreation of the moment in Dr. No, when Ursula Andress appears from the sea in front of James Bond.

The Eres bikini was available at time of the movie but didn't come with the white belt and knife. The bikini is not available anymore in official stores, but apparently a brown version of the same model was available until very recently.

    Price: $ 200

    Product Code: bg006

I wouldn't mind hanging with Sir Sean either, but Timothy and Daniel, you guys can have!

Thanks for the invite to this thread Alessandra. I'm happy to talk style and fashion, as I'm pretty much a shoe fanatic myself. Not to mention hand bags, as Lady Rose and I have talked about before! :D Nice to see the gang all here.

And speaking of bikinis. I too loved Halle's in DAD, and Caterina's La Perla in CR. I bought a La Perla bikini when I was in Chicago about a year and a half ago, and it is still like new! It was the most expensive bathing suit I have ever bought, but I agree with Ale, it was worth it! It's a gorgeous chocolate brown with a tiny bit of white trim, and the fabric is amazing. It washes out beautifully from the ocean or pool, and it still looks new! It just hugs your curves and feels great on the body! So if anyone is debating on getting one, they are an excellent investment. I'll have it for years, and it will still be in style, it's such a good cut!

Ohhh right! I FORGOT it was an Eres bikini... Know the brand very well, one of my best friends is very keen on Eres bikinis. The problems with most of the Eres models is one has to be literally bones and skin to wear them, they aren't very "constructed", so either you have one of those perfect bodies or no way. Next time maybe :)). Some models though, like the Halle Berry one, fit different shapes. I remember a gorgeous fuchsia one that I absolutely wanted and when I went to get it.. my size was gone! :(

    I gave this friend of mine an Eres bikini for her birthday two years ago, and she wore it right the day after (we were at the beach). And yes I'm a good thoughtful friend :)) Eres, while being a much "simpler" design than La Perla is pretty much the same type of thing: stuff that lasts forever. And always stylish and looking good. -{

Monique!! Hi!! {[] Great to see you here. And yes of course I would remember about sharing Pierce... not something that can be forgotten?? :)) :))

About La Perla: EXACTLY! So glad you got to try the amazing design and quality they have yourself. They are indeed expensive, but they're worth every penny you pay for them. Funny story about this, yesterday I got a message on a private networking site I am on from the DIRECTOR of La Perla fashion group who read my discussions with other people regarding what the best lingerie was. His message to me "damn, how did I miss you? I CANNOT afford to lose you as a client, you're an added PR for the company!" :)) :)) :)) So I may be able to track down La Perla stuff at better prices now :))

Seriously, if you want similar styles to Caterina Murino's swimsuit, La Perla now has a new website AND they have online store. And it is SALDI time right now (Saldi=sales in Italian). There are some GORGEOUS bikinis for 80 euros and some for around 50 euros... which is total bargain compared to normal La Perla prices. Just go to www.laperla.com and find out for yourselves. I'm not sure they have the same stuff available in the English version as they have in the Italian one, but if not, you guys have me as personal translator :)) :))

I also forgot that I absolutely LOVED Pam Bouvier's blue (was it blue or cobalt blue?? anyway a shade of blue) dress in the final scene of LTK. I wanted to kill her when she went into the swimming pool with that on! Outrage!! Well except she had to kiss Timothy, so I guess I should be understanding :))

Anyone know who the dress was from? Was that from the movie designer that SpectreIsland indicated as well???

    Hi Markus,
I was looking at the Le Perla website today and although I found the mint green colour option, I couldn't find the bikini. However I was looking on the UK site, not the Italian...so Ale might be able to help!

Plus, she prob knows of a little boutique that just might have it :D

    Hi Markus!

That bikini was most likely from last year's collection, so very unlikely that you find it on the La Perla website online. You may, however, find it for example on bluefly.com which sells designer stuff not necessarily from the latest collection. I of course know of a very secret outlet store for La Perla in Milan that may have it but you'd need to go on location to find it, they don't have a website (for obvious reasons).. and there, the discounts are in general around 50%... so VERY good prices. And they have the collection from the year before, so for sure the collection that specific bikini was in.

Let me do a quick research online and see if I can help you! :D

This is a VERY well-equipped website with La Perla stuff, delivering in the UK as well. There are various versions of it, for various countries. This is the UK one with the swimwear page. You will need to click on the various brands on the lefthand side to see the various models. ALL those brands are La Perla brands, I think Murino's may have been one of the La Perla studio models.. anyway this is the link:

Have fun! (of course if you're looking for lingerie, you can shop for that one too.. and it's an online outlet, so good prices! :D)

See what it takes to have a Bond girl look??? :))

    Hello Lexi and Alessandra,

I have been browsing the mentioned webpage, but could not locate the CR bikini. I guess, all bikinis look pretty much the same to me (yes, I am a bloke..) or have I gotten confused by the mass of well-shaped female torsos :s

Has anybody been able to locate this particular bikini there?

If not, Alessandra, could you please be so kind to have an eye for me the next time, you go lingerie-shopping in the mentioned sectret outlet store?

    Thanks

OK, I will need to take joint action with the other girls here to see whether the specific CR bikini is available on said page. If not, stay assured I WILL have a look in the secret outlet store (It really is secret, it's impossible to find it unless you have the exact address.. it's way to hell from downtown Milan, in the area of the San Siro stadium). Whatever the case, you WILL find what you're looking for, I'm a Bond girl on a mission at this point. :v
