I wouldn't mind seeing Rachel in a Bond film. Blondes just don't do it for me and never have. Never understood the fascination with them. Dark hair, Brunette, or Red Head (Bit bias as I am one) are hands down the most attention getting, period. But anyways.
Since I was mainly going to post and rant, I figured it wouldn't be appropriate to do so unless I had some ideas of my own.
Bond Girl/Bond Villianess: Rachel McAdams (Yea I like the dark and sinister ones. Would make for a nice twist. Its been to long since Bond has been really had by a woman. No I do not include Vesper, that's different.)
Bond Villain: William Hurt. I loved him in Mr Brooks as Kevin Costner's alter ego. Plus he isn't a bad actor, and the few times I have seen him play a villain, he does a bang up job! Would be nice for a calmer subtler villain much like Le Cheire, I'm personally tired of the loud over the top doomed to fail villains in Bond. Its time for a real villain that can give Bond a real run for his money. That is why CR is one of my all time favorite Bond films. Bond did not kill Le Chiefre.
Henchman: Cillian Murphy gets another vote. That guy has creepy (not over the top) villain or henchman written all over him. Now on to the main reason why I decided to post in the first place. All the wanting MMA stars or God forbid Martial Arts guys. Not that I do not approve of either mind you. We really do not need another Jaws (MMA guys). While I understand it would be cool to have a guy a bit bigger than Bond (Height and Weight) I'm not talking about some steroid addict here. As for the Martial Arts in a Bond film *shudder*. The only reason I would allow that in a Bond fill is if the guy did some round-house sweep kick at Bond, and Bond pulled out his PPK and capped him between the eyes. Of course when I think of Martial Arts I'm thinking of Hardcore Orient MA. That would just look straight up ridiculous in a Bond fill. end rant/
M: Judi Drench/ Micheal Gambon. I list this as such because my idea for a new and original Bond film would be taken from the book The Man with the Golden Gun, in which Bond tries to kill M with a nerve gas filled pen. I would love to see M get killed, which is a shame because I do like Judi's M. Then have Micheal Gambon take over to appear as more of a father figure (Which M is really suppose to be). Plus it would make for one of the best opening 5 minutes in Bond film history. Now if only we could work into some how quickly Bond was brain washed into doing it. Nah have someone from the inside do it. We already know that Quantum has M's number from QoS. That would make a logical and necessary role to bringing back the father figure role which again is what M is suppose to be. Again not that I do not like Judi's M. Goldeye was her best hands down M film. Loved the Dinosaur line she cuts Bond in two with, and the "If you do not think I have the balls to send a man off to die," wasn't bad either.
Moneypenny/Q: I can make this short and sweet, rather blunt and possible rude while I'm at it. Its time to wake up people, they are not coming back, at least not in Craig's tenure. While I loved Q I have never really been much of a Moneypenny fan I mean what real purpose did she serve? I swear I think all she did was pretend to type at that blasted desk and wait for Bond to throw his hat in. If Q were to comeback, again about as likely as me being voted in to take over for Barack Obama (*shudder* another issue all together), I would like to have Micheal Gambon to play it (if my previous idea of him replacing Judi doesn't pan out) But the truth of the matter is neither of them are coming back.
The ones so desperate for "classic" Bond to come back need to understand that "classic" Bond died when CR was made. Now let me define what I feel is classic Bond: Over the top doomed to fail campy villains, Bond being funny(Dry humor is the only way to go. Ever met a former SAS member, they don't have much in the line of humor. Atleast not the 15-20 I met while I was in the service. Not meaning any offense to them of course. Bond can have a sense of humor, but not the tongue in check Moore funny, just short little quips mainly to be charming with the Bond girls. Bond for the most part should be cold ala Daniel Craig.), Bond not making mistakes, Bond never losing. Perfect Timing Bat Utility Belt Gadgets (Kills the Q character) Twisted Metal Suped Up Beautiful Cars.
While I did enjoy those things, and they got me addicted to Bond, after what 20 films of it, I got sick of it. It has been time for a change and is something they should have done in the 90's to bring Bond back. Craig's Bond has walked us into a new era for Bond. A Bond that isn't just a Bond fan's film, a Bond movie that is a real by God good movie like CR and to a lesser extent QoS. My mother and father and I went to see CR when it came out. My mother had never seen a Bond film, but she enjoyed the movie why? Because it was a good film, not a Bond Fan's Film. I think after 20 films of the same cookie cutter recipe came dangerously close to the only thing that can kill Bond, boredom. Nothing surprised you anymore. It got old.
But I'm tired of ranting and I need a cigarette (needed it after the henchman listing). I hope I didn't offend anyone, this is my own not quite humble opinion.
