CR Cufflinks

Hi. Just been watching C/R and during the train ride to Montenegro, Bond wears THREE different Dupont cufflinks, first he wears the square version that we all know and love, then after Vesper makes her point about the government, we see the train from the outside, then Bond pours Vesper wine, the shot cuts to him and he is wearing the casino cufflinks; then Vesper makes a comment re. Bond bluffing and he is wearing half moon shape cufflinks.

Makes me think of how many changes are made from scene to scene form a product placement standpoint...ie Tom Ford Ties ect.

I think you may have been drinking too much when you watched that. Sruzgar and I spent obscene amounts of time looking at that scene to ID the cufflinks in 2007. He definately only wears one pair, the continuity was too good in CR for them to screw up that badly. Far right in this picture...

actually JD, I seem to recall a long discussion on this very subject... :v

was there one, two or even three different links ...

tricks of the light I believe....

far from being drink related, i recall it driving many to drink.... :s

    There are many of us 'silent partners' that have observed much good work that has enabled us to procure the necessary accessories - which in this case is Dupont reference 5174 (half moon lined pattern). -{
And that was probably without reference to any Blu-Ray HD images?!
    Well done guys... :007)
These days it takes three kills...!

Yeah, I remember it well. I think we came to the best conclusion though with those half moon links, and Blu-ray confirmed it. I remember I wasn't 100% convinced it was that particular style then, I am now.

There certainly wasn't any coffin or diamond head links in that scene. We certainly would have picked up on that. The problem with those half moon links, they reflect the light in all kinds of bizaare ways. And to boot, they were the only ones I didn't get :#

    Asp9mm, not sure if you're interested, but the half moons are still available via raffaello-network.com, currently on sale for $230 US. -{

    Yep, that's it.

The coffin ones, of course, had "007" on the inside. Obviously, a gift from M to the newly promoted James Bond. And to help identify them in case he ever lost them. :D

my M (um.....) did similar for me, sewing my name in my socks and undies.. :)

on a serious note, how appropriate a subliminal at a poker table...

As u stare across at Bond's hand of cards your mind sees a silver coloured COFFIN....

And the feeling of being buried sets in....

Yes, I believe "someone" was good enough to put James Bond's name on his expensive Tom Ford sunglasses for the same reason.

And I think from the Bond-M relationship we know who!

Well there you go...I have not watched the train scene again since that night; but the next time I do I will be a bit more FOCUSED!!! I suppose I should have watched It again the next morning with a coffee.

As the saying goes..'I would rather know the truth and be wrong than be wrong and think I was right'....or something like that.

Asp9mm, I'm not familiar with the dark links second from the left and don't remember them from a film. They look pretty cool. Can you identify? Thanks.

They were part of the LTD ED Casino Royale range. Never worn in the film.

That was my understanding the cufflinks to be per scene, unless someone wants to throw a spanner in the works... 8-)

I checked again, the diamond square cufflinks seem to interchange with the crescent ones from the train journey / taxi ride.

I see the tie changes also, poor continuity unless he changed on the train :))

If you look closer, you can tell he changes his suit and tie as well, presumably for the arrival of the train in Montenegro.

Long train journey with a cabin to sleep in on the train. I don't think its unreasonable to see him change his clothes. Sorry but fail to see why people consider poor continuity here...

    Quite. There isn't any.

    The changes are perfectly plausible.

Of course you correct, for some reason I thought the suit was the same howeve totally diff.

I found the Cufflinks for sale at Raffaello Network: http://www.raffaello-network.com/raffties/detail.php?itemid=68629&rangeid=650

Anyone buy from them before? Any problems?
  • welshboy78welshboy78 Posts: 10,292MI6 Agent
Believe many people here used rafaello to purchase Tom Ford ties etc.

On another note, anybody here contacted Dupont about another re-run of the coffin cufflinks?

I don't think I've heard anyone state on here that they have contacted S.T.Dupont about a re-run on these cuflinks - can anyone correct me? However, I seriously doubt they will reproduce these.

Who knows, maybe they'll release something that coincides with the 50th anniversary of Bond. Now that would be worth collecting. ;)
Bond: "Who would spend $1 million to kill me?"
M: "Jealous husbands. Outraged chefs. Humiliated tailors. The list is endless!"

I am looking to buy the 5172 cufflinks. Can anyone tell me who owns them, if they are supposed to have the S.T. Dupont name engraved at the bottom. The pics on Amazon and other stores show the same basic photo that show no engraving. However when I look on pics of them from other people, there is an engraving, which to me looks much nicer. I want to make sure I am buying legitimate S.T. Dupont cufflinks. Thanks!

    Basic Photo on Amazon, etc:
